All the party boxes are right where they need to be , the boombox 2 needs to be at 450, or even 420. And the Xtreme 3 damn sure should have started at 280 not even the former 300$, especially when they have the nerve to offer such pricey warranty options, they had better be using better batteries!

Just got the Clip4 and already had the Clip3. Only 2 things better with the Clip4. 1) and probably most important, the sound is better and a little louder too. 2) the clip can open slightly more, but still both are pretty limited. Things that I think got worse with the Clip4 1) no rubber backing/protection on the inside of the clip like the Clip3 has 2) the rubber on the bottom that it lays on is not close to being as slip resistant as the rubber on the bottom on the Clip3 3) overall doesn't feel as beefy/sturdy as the Clip3 4) with the new shape, it would have been nice if they made it be able to stand up when you set it down.

I'm quite happy with my Clip 3 that I scored for $29.99 during Black Friday.

I also got a great deal on my clip 3 and I am impressed with the upgrades done to the clip 4 however my clip 3 does what I need from it I have flip5 & charge 4 so if I want to get louder I can. I also was able to get UE boom as well as the wonder boom1. I went with JBL because of the price of the UE products. Check out UE vs JBL.

@@steviedebarge77 dude just go for a boombox if you have all the small portables. Don't look for another portable alternatives for home. I use 1 clip 3 with my laptop on the go and a boombox when I'm at home. It is annoying when you have a whole lot of tiny speakers hanging around the house. I'm going to get rid of the boombox and buy a jbl partybox 310. Then I'll have all I need.

The sound makes up for the features they removed. It sounds better on all the tracks! If it hasn’t made it to the sound of the soundlink micro, it is getting close!

After I purchased two of xb12s I relised how much better is to have two paired speakers, even small ones like xb12. In stereomode it goes like a beast, so I would be missing that feature... but clip 4 would be for people who travel a lot and on the hike you dont really need two speakers, one is okay... plus might be for workers to have it on the pants, there also no need for pairing mode...but missing mic and aux, that would be the reason to change the brand here, despite the sound improvement...

Diffently going to upgrade to the clip 4! I got the clip 3 for years I love it!

It’s a big improvement, I wonder how it stacks up to the GO3 or even the FLIP4. About the AUX, I don’t really mind the AUX on smaller speakers, but not having it on the CHARGE5 is pretty disappointing, if that doesn’t have a USB-C signal in, then it’s gonna be a tough sell for me. Also TBH IDK why they took away the clip’s daisy chain (the CLIP2 was the only one to have it.

These kind of speakers really needs the help of equalization...specially for the jbl clip 3...it will sound great...what you can hear here are the flat response of the speakers in this test...thanx by the way to dlx willington.

I just purchased a JBL Charge 5 for work at my desk and work station (which is a beast) but I may get the Clip 4 for when I'm doing a lot of moving around in the shop and can't be in one spot. Gotta stay in the ecosystem:) I just wish the Clip 4 had party boost so I don't have to reconnect between the two.

Duuuude sound is much improved!!! I can finally go back to using a clip at work!!!

@@albertpintor3522 hell yeah dude wonderboom 2 or flip 5 you kind of can't go wrong either way but there is something special about the wonderboom 2 I'm still hoping to get a second one but I really shouldn't rush try to get some other speakers before I re buy a second of one I already have LOL I had to return my clip for because it would not charge I'll either rebuy clip for when it's finally in the stores or I'll just wait for charge 5 in April

Huge difference in bass. That clip 4 is just on another level. Clip 3 was a speaker with very clear sound but absolutely low bass, but then the clip 4 brought all the bass that was missing and boom, made a great sounding speaker from jbl, great even for bass head to some extent. Bass heads would seriously hate the clip 3.

Bass heads should buy a real bt speaker for audio playback of music. No one should call themselves a bass head and get any clip.

thank you for the review! what is a good affordable speaker like clip 3 only with pairing? I've had clip 3 older version until the cord got broken, the new version has a jack vs in-build cord. I used it mainly for home and teaching tango classes. it worked ok. a year bought the new version yet the sound was glitching, e.g. it would stop the music when I adjusted the volume up, which was annoying and of course would not work for me (I returned it to an amazon seller but they did not reimburse the shipping as promised (wish I just kept it for home use, as moneywise - got it on sale - it did not make sense). now looking for another one yet I think not having pairing is a must to have.

I can already tell the difference clip 4 is more compact when it come to sound quality by the way im using clip 3 while playing this vid

It at least makes it a bit more worth the 70 dollars now with the improved sound what I want in the clip 5 is the ability to link them because that I think would be so cool for the small speakers especially for camping and stuff

One question here, should I get a Clip 4 or Charge 5? I own a HK Onyx Studio 5 already personally, and want something portable and rugged that can go around, studio 5 is a little big/heavy to be portable, personally think that I will still use the Onyx studio 5 even I got the charge 5? Given how loud it gets youre so dang right that they shouldve used the party boost with it... However with the amount of bass other bigger speakers have it would get wrecked and hardly make a difference.

Despite all of the reviews I've seen on this speaker, all of them failed to mention that JBL removed the battery level display on the phone from the CLIP 4 also, in addition to the mic. The Clip series always had this option. Until now they did not include it in the GO series, but it looks like for a few cents less in manufacturing, now I will not be able to see the battery level.

Exactly. That's exactly what I was thinking. Not one dufus reviewer has mentioned this in any of the reviews, like it's not important. Absolute garbage without it. I'm sending mine back. Doesn't sync with a Clip 3 either using a Note 9.

JBL clip speakers not having the pairing option is what stopped me from buying it . I emailed them and they flat out said they won't do it . Sony's small boom speaker pairs and they sound great . JBL needs to get with the program. They're limiting sales without having that feature. Most people don't want to spend over 100 dollars on speakers so it makes a lot of sense to give your base product pairing capability

Minirig mini 2 and Tribit Storm micro

I have both the JBL CLIP3 and the JBL CLIP4 in the blue color and I love them. The JBL CLIP4 definitely sounds better. It's louder and has more base. The JBL CLIP3 has an excellent speaker phone built in which the JBL CLIP4 does not. They are both great portable Bluetooth speakers.

The difference does not seem big but it is...it's like when I switch the Dolby Audio on and off from my laptop .... So enthusiasted that I eil buy the Clip 4 tomorrow for nearly 40euros ...a heck of a deal

I had clip 3 and managed to loose it somehow!!!! crazy. So I bought jbl clip 4 and i think battery lasts longer on clip 3 and sound sounds better on clip 3 on a maximum volume, I have a feeling clip 3 was playing music louder. I usually MTB and rollerskate with clip being attached to my backpack with maximum volume music. And with clip 3 it felt like it lasted longer. Where clip 4 maybe dont turn off automatically or use battery a lot still when not playing music? Havent figure out it yet, but feels like battery dont last as long. Love the design and overall is good. I wouldn't say there is a HUGE difference in them, all AUX etc whatever i dont need, as using bluetooth only anyway.

Would be cool if they could make Clip 4 have aux though, really great sound nonetheless.

Are you kidding me? It’s impossible for me to get it in my state I have like 3 Walmart’s in my area and none of them have even restocked the old models since they came out

does anyone know if it sounds like the audio is coming from a smaller speaker? I like the JBL Charge series and how they sound like the audio is coming from a larger speaker than what it really is... at least in my opinion. Does anyone who has this speaker feel that this is also the case with this smaller JBL Clip 4? I want something portable while sounding like a bigger speaker

no AUX but I assume you can connect using the USBC like anything else that support USBC

Need to know if Clip 4 would be a viable alternative for Sony XB-12. A comparison would be much appreciated.

Why do you need a headphone jack? Might as well get a Bluetooth headphone… not sure why you want to buy a speaker only to plug in your headphones in that speaker

You could get the go 3 for 40 dollars decent sound quality and they added a small paracord loop so you can attach a carabiner to it and use it like the clip 🙂

Im only looking for something to clip onto my backpack and listen to as i hike or go for walks. I already have another jbl speaker and jbl headphones. Im thinking 3 will do the trick i dont need amazing quality. And the 4 may be too bulky or heavy

Clip 3: measly bass and not very loud and clear Clip 4: POWERFUL BASS! way louder and way more open

You didn't mention that the Clip 4 doesn't give it's remaining battery percentage on the phone being used like the Clip 3 does. Do you not think that's important?

Is there anyway to check how much battery life remains? I dont see the battery life indicator on my iphone widgets, and unlike the UE Boom I dont see anywhere to press on the speaker where it will announce the current battery life. Any ideas?

I know with my android phone, when I swipe down to see my Bluetooth status, it says connected to JBL Clip 3, 60% battery. Not sure if that helps, but here's hoping iphone has a similar thing.

Clip series is better for podcasts, audio books, and vocals. I'm surprised that so called reviewers don't test that because it's not designed for music primarily.

I just got the Clip4 today. When I go to the highest volume setting it cuts out, but comes back on at top volume. If that makes sense.. wonder if this is supposed to happen to notify you it's as loud as it will go or if it's a glitch and I should exchange it.

Straight up JUNK, and i changed the wires and soldering, worked for a few hours then back to the same thing...In the garbage it went.

The aux jack I can live without unless you have an iPod still which I can’t ever justify using today there’s no point to it also the calling functionality is a bit useless too because the chances you’re gonna get a call while you’re out and about on an adventure would be inconvenient

How does this testing work if its even valid. I just got the old 3 from Ross. Great deal at 32 bucks! So im playing this guys demo. The comparison between the 3 and the 4 is night and day. The 3 is missing notes and whole instruments are practically muted out! Here’s my question. I played this demo on the 3. When he played the 3 it sounded like crap. When he kept switching back to the 4 (even coming out of my “3” speaker, it sounds incredible! What does it say that a test that he had a crappy recording for the three but not the floor? Somebody explain it to me please?

The JBL clip 4 they lower the features just like the extreme 3 the pulse 4 and the flip 5 and also upcoming charge 5 well that's good because the sound quality of the speakers very high and good so the lower the features the higher the quality.

Flip 3 better because I have flip 3 , clip 3,flip 4,go2 flip 3 have LOW frequency mode clil 3 don't have.

JBL started its life by building enormous horn-loaded systems. Some were the size of a small house. Many are still in use today, but you better have a significant sum in the bank. Today, about 70 years later, they're known for tiny, inexpensive speakers. Kinda ironic.

What sucks is that jbls current home speaker line up looks lackluster compared to 5 years ago when they had the es series, l890s. The only speakers that appeal to me are the studio 590s and the synthesis line
