HDMI is the better connwctivity. It support High resolution audio in variety of formats at higher bandwidth.. So you will hear the sound coming from your screen at exact moment your eyes are seeing it at the highest quality possible

@psycho ur 5.1's subwoofer is 300w, the 2.1 deep bass is 200w only

Absolutely Not! Only makes difference in loudness and the capability to play clean on high vol settings. But @psycho was very concerned about his 5.1 bass power..

The physical surround speaker will make a huge difference than virtual surround..

Definitely 5.1 2.1 is good for news and sport only 5.1 for music and movies

I love the 2.1 and the bass quality is incredible for a home audio subwoofer. I’ve owned it and it sounded better than any home audio I ever had before.

Should not have the bass set at max, on both units!

Once ur JBL 5.1 gets a firmware update, u will have the Bass settings change to 1-5

2.1 has deeper & punchy bass. 5.1 has cleaner, wider, greater quality Sound. Subwoofer of 2.1 (6.5") beat the subwoofer of 5.1 (10")!

@Amel Desain, choose the 5.1 for a big living room. Much better if you can find the JBL bar 5.1 with detachable surround. If you have a big living room, a virtual 5.1 might find it hard to beam sounds off the wall. While having the real surround will give you true immersive experience

5.1 sounds cleaner overall.

Both these JBL models are inferior in sound quality. The 5.1 virtual surround is nothing, no surround effect. JBL is nothing in front of SONY . Compare this JBL 5.1 with Sony RF 700...see the difference experience the real bass and sound quality which is crystal clear and distortion free sound even at full volume. Experience it yourself.

Sony s700rf might have clear treble and an OK bass but if you that guy with a 12inch sub in the car then Sony is not for you..JBL 5.1 bass is on another level..even the price tag has remained the same for the past 7 years..cause it's the real deal by harman kardon

@@katlehorasebitse7720 We are not talking about car audio systems. We are talking about the big difference in JBL and the Sony soundbars. JBL Harman Kardon is only a brand name and fleecing customers of their hard earned money offering inferior quality sound , false claim of virtual surround. The systems are not even worth half the price. Sony is way way ahead and the Sony RF 700 proves it. Bass is excellent and vibrant. JBL bass is inferior and nothing compared to Sony. Check it out, in the showroom. JBL has a bulky subwoofer but instead if they could focus on the bass instead of external styling, they could have come somewhere close to Sony. But that's never the case.

​@@katlehorasebitse7720We are not talking about car audio systems. Sony is a totally next level audio range . What ever has been seen and experienced cannot prove futile. JBL a big brand name from Harman Kardon has somehow never stood upto it's brand name but only making it expensive and offers no sound quality. Poor bass and bulky subwoofer, looks beautiful and have only focused on external finishing, the JBL 5.1 550 RMS which boasts about virtual surround is misleading infact no surround effect, very poor bass, Max volume 30. Not even room filling sound. Priced above Indian rupees 45,000. But not even worth Rs.15,000. Where as the Sony RF 700 is far far ahead in exemplary bass 1,000 RMS with tall boy surround speakers . Thunderous bass effect at volume 19 to 20. Max volume is 50. One cannot increase the volume above 20 as that will shatter window pains and so thunderous that your next door neighbour will come running. All this for a price of Rs. 39,000. Harman Kardon JBL, big names in the world but in reality the Boat Avante will give you better value for money. Difficult for people to digest the truth. Go to the showroom and do the comparison and then talk.
