Is this an AirPlay speaker?

I bought the 200 because of your recommendation in the Video. Thank you for that. The original plan was to buy the 300 but I don’t need the mobility and the Sound of the 200 is fantastic for the price. I‘m just happy.

thank you for this review! does this (or the Authentics 300) have any noticable latency when plugged in via the aux/audio-in port? I.e. could you plug a physically plug a guitar, or DJ setup into it and perform, without DSP latency ?

The 200 and 300 don't have air ports because a passive radiator acts as the port. Passive radiators need to be used in a sealed enclosure. Passive radiators and ports achieve the same thing, they increase the output at its tuned frequency.

The A200 actually does have a woofer in the front the thing on the bottom is a passive radiator to have more open sealed sound in a way

I did notice the Marshall clarity is crispier compared to clear JBL sound. How was the bass on the JBL, was it such a big difference from the rest ?

For $349 I think I will buy Klipsch The One for home & Bose Soundlink Flex for the road / Emberton II. All because of your videos

Jbl 200 vs marshall action 3 which is better?

Hey Danny, I was wondering if you were aware of the Soundcore motion 300, since it is in direct comparison with the Bose soundlink flex

I bought the JBL Authentic 300 today. The AirPlay set up and linking to Tidal was seamless and took a few minutes as did the firmware update. I nearly bought the Beloit 20, but after having bad luck with B&O in the past (headphones stopped working and then returned still not working and an A5 not charging) I opted for the JBL. After a few hours listening this evening I am very happy with it. The ability to use AirPlay and connect them as a stereo pair make them a fairly decent set up without breaking the bank.

I bought the authenic 200 yesterday and I was hoping you could help me. Does your volume knob spin freely and smoothly a full 360 degrees? My knob has parts that are stiff and harder to turn then it's suddenly smooth and little to no resistance, then it stiffens again. I don't know if this is a defect and I should return it or its meant to be some kind of feature? Thank you

@@emalior5000 the volume control knob spins freely, but I normally control the volume within the JBL One app. I will have a check when I get home later today and check again.

​@@TrevorDodd-ev1sx thanks for your reply. On closer inspection of the volume knob I noticed the outer ring is catching on the centre play button and plastic shavings are coming off. Either the play button is not centred perfectly or it's out of round. It does seem to be getting better as more of the plastic wears off. When I first used it it was jamming. At least I know it's not anything serious and won't bother exchanging it. Thanks again 👍

Hi, when you have two, it play like real stereo ? I belivied that it play exactly the same thing and not do a real left / right.

@@letraderencarton One of the major benefits of this speaker is that the app allows you to create a stereo pair. They play in real stereo.

Personally, I like both brands. Marshall at home and JBL for the portable. Good review.

Hello I currently have a 200 and never connected it to wifi I just connected it to wifi and it got a firmware update and I feel like it has less bass Is there anyway you can confirm this?

The tribut stormbox blast is 90 Watts. Is it louder than that?

Nice review JBL should have given a choice of fabric orange and blue like their classic home speakers.

@@DannyPops I just watched Alan Ross review only the 300 has a battery can’t compete with the JBL Encore or Tribit Blast in loudness. These Wi-Fi speakers seem to be lacking I still love the Soundcore motion boom plus it is outstanding still my favorite they have a new line coming out this company is moving forward did you see the Bose Flex comes in cypress green I home they are on sale AMAZON PRIME DAY THE 10/11

That is a passive radiator on the bottom, the actual driver is 5" round.

I don't think you can through any apps, you could with 3.5mm but that'd be all manual set up.

To my 76 year old ears with some high end loss, the 200 wins the sound comparison hands down. The Klipsch wasn’t even close. Your assessment is very subjective on features. I’ll keep using my Bose Mini, thank you.

300 sounded the best. Well balanced, bigger sound.

Hi Danny, The button of the Jbl Authentics is a passive radiator. The real subwoofer is in front of the speaker.

The authentics 500 has a powered 6.5 subwoofer. The 200 and 300 seem to have almost identical specifications same size tweeters, 5 vs 5.25 woofer, same size passive radiator and 90w vs 100w max power. It's not surprising he says they both sound very similar. The 300 probably plays down low better due to the larger enclosure and it has a battery but otherwise it seems like the 200 or the 500 is the one to buy unless you need to use the battery

Hi, what do You think which option is better. JBL authentics 200 or two JBL charge 5 connected in stereo mode?

What I heard in my headphones. The 300 had the most bass of the 4, it was almost too prominent. The Marshall had the least bass, but the most mid range. The Klipsch was really balanced however did not have the punchy bass of the 200. For jazz and classical styles, I would choose the Klipsch. For more pop styles, The 200. Hop hop, dance and the like, the 300.

You should get a hk citation 200. They are on sale for$130. The battery sux but sounds great.

Thought the 200 sounded better than the Action III

@@DannyPops yeah sorry danny. I realized that after posting my comment and finally came across the 500 video. Lol so my next question would be that I was planning in getting a vinyl player with WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. Sound wise does this still work well with those type of products?

Could you compare between Killburn 2 and Authentic 200.... Since both being portable with battery output.

I will never understand why JBL bluetooth speakers are so popular let alone how anybody can think they sound good. I picked up this and a pair of extremes after reading all the positive reviews hoping that they might live up to em. Boxed them back up in under an hour and returned them. Not horrible at apartment @ 2am volumes standing directly in front of them increasing the volume or move slightly to the left or right and it falls somewhere between listening to a good speaker sitting inside a aluminum pale while wearing ear plugs to distorted noise depending on location and volume.

...so two jbl partybox 100's are the same wattage as one 500.....

Terrible music choices, but nice review otherwise. In a field with Marshall's Acton or Stanmore, or Klipsch, etc, it's good to see JBL release some good stuff.

Yes. You can say "alexa turn down the volume to 50 percent" etc and it works perfectly, "alexa volume to 75%" etc. However if the music is very loud and you are far away it's hard for it to hear you, obviously.

Measuring in a single tone instead of a white noise is pretty stupid and deceiving. Nobody listens to a song that contains only 1 tonal sine wave, but white noise contains all the tones from 20 - 20 000 Hz range. Even if the speaker would be 10 db louder in averaged overall response it could be quieter by 10 db in one tone compared to the quieter overall speaker.
