JT’s defense is seriously underrated. He’s already a really good one-on-one defender but imo he’s maybe the best help/ off ball defender in the league. He just swallows up so much space and recovers so well to his assignment. Teams don’t pass near him on the weak side because he will deflect it, he has incredible help range, and he’s one of the better wing defenders in the league. The fact that he hasn’t made an all defensive team is kind of incredible to me.

The help defense was so insane under Ime Udoka with Rob Williams also being a top 5 help defender in the league when he was healthy. With those two on the floor, you didn't know where to go because you had to go at one of JT or Rob on either side of the floor, and that was with the idea in the back of your mind that D White might be swatting that thing to the stands before you have the chance to worry about the help.

​@@Thugg12 Dont forget White and Holiday. I actually think Orlando would have been a better matchup against the Celtics because of their size 1-5 in terms of defending guards the Celtics are perfect for that

2 way players don't get the accolades they once did. It's all about triple doubles and offensive numbers nowadays. It is sad defensive work is rarely applauded.

Defense is a lot harder to measure without breaking down film too, a block might not secure a stop, a guy with high steals might just be gambling a bunch, etc.

This is why when people shit on Tatum when he's having an off shooting night it annoys me. That shit happens, you can't put up 30+ every night...but night in night out Tatum shows up on defense and rebounding. He does the little things, he grinds, and that's shit that most super stars simply don't do. He always adds in his spacing, his play making, his defense, his rebounding. He's a super star that doesn't need to score in order to be a super star. Rare these days.

This Mazzulla dude might be a good coach after all and not the complete dunce the media paints him to be. Grudging praise is the highest praise you can get.

Not used to these little bursts of Celtics positivity, yet.

Been saying it for years now the most underrated part of Tatum's game is everything he does outside of scoring. Solid playmaker, good rebounder and ELITE wing defense. People who say he isn't a top 5 player in the league are smoking dust. Yes he's inconsistent, yes he doesn't always make the smartest play with the ball in his hands, but when you do all the little things and can still help your team get wins while having a bad offensive night you are elite.

The Celtics are why we are not burning in hell.

I like the Celtics adjusted quickly with their defensive strategy after losing G2, and they didn't let the Heat get over 90 points in the next 3 games. That's what a team should do if they want victory.

Bam is one of the best screen setters in the nba because he gets away with alot of illegal screens.
