I remember I was in Perth, Australia in nice hotel room. I was on the phone with my girl at the time mom and she told me my girl was cheating on me. I just went to the balcony lit up a cigar poured up some Johnny Walker black label and vibed out to this joint. Probably the most relatable Jay Z song ever. No drugs just real life, real pain, and real shit. We've all taken an L or two. Life aint called Life without the L.

I think he put reserves in to mean she was doing the once a month weekend with him. He word play on "my time in the army it is served" - means he has put in time to get his career at the level that he can chill. But her career was just starting as a single artist so he knew she need time to focus on her career. When he said asking her now would be unfair what he mean is at his age he was ready to settle down while she was just starting.

As much as I agree with you, come on man, the third one is way more real. Relationships hurt and everything, but this man bought a car for his nephew, and he died in it. The Colleek verse means so much more, maybe not to all of us, but he feels responsible for a death of a family member. It may not be as relative to your life as the second verse, but respect should be given to someone as famous as him putting out something like losing a family member. Not everyone is brave enough to do that.

This part of the song shows how much thought he has as a lyricist to reflect on his life and friendships that were formed and dissolved. Very Mature👍🏽
