Jay Weinberg (Slipknot) "Nero Forte" Playthrough on Roland VAD506

Музыка

Jay Weinberg, drummer with band Slipknot, has to keep his drumming and physical fitness in top shape. Touring with Slipknot is the drumming equivalent of being asked to run a marathon, night after night. Playing a show this demanding without a warmup can lead to injuries, which could be game over for the tour. That’s why Jay chooses to take his V-Drums on tour - so that he can maintain tour-readiness and warm-up before every live show. Having a V-Drums kit on-hand is also useful for helping Jay and the band pen new songs and easily capture demo tracks on tour.
In this video, Jay plays along with a well-known Slipknot favourite, using the V-Drums Acoustic Design VAD506 kit. Jay plays a Slipknot track, with original drum track removed, from SD card inserted into the TD-27 module. The audio from the TD-27 module provides the drum sounds and are mixed with the Slipknot track.
Jay’s custom setup uses two VAD506 kits, combined together, to exactly model his acoustic kit setup as played on stage with Slipknot. Two TD-27 modules are tethered together to provide inputs for all pads within the kit. Drum audio is recorded directly from the TD-27 modules into a DAW. Mixing and panning completed in post-production, maintaining the authenticity of the TD-27 module sound. Video and audio recorded backstage at a Slipknot concert on January 24th 2020, Birmingham, UK.

@@dericanslum1696 doesn't matter for e drums if you beat them hard. i'm a 110kg, 190m guy that does a lot of weight training and i'm a drummer -i can't break those skins if i wanted while playing "Just" hard. they eventually wear down but it takes YEARS. i probably could take a marching stick and just beat with the thick end of the stick on it until it breaks intentionally but while playing music with a reasonable force, these things ain't gonna break. in my 10 years of owning a roland mesh kit, the only thing that broke was the bassdrum skin and I suspect it broke because my right beater has a light side to side movement when the left pedal is played so it generates additional friction from that for which it's not built. but yeah, other than that - these things last almost forever

The thing about the sounds is that you can always upload samples to reinforce the Roland Sounds, its such a great feature. Also what sounds great alone usually gets lost in the mix. I can always mix my TD-17KVX to the mix, with my regular acoustic kit i'm always bribing soundmen to get me a decent sound. Watched Slipknnot live last summer and it took the soundman 4 songs in to dial the sound. Then somewhere after the snare drum disappeared for half a song...

If given this and all his covers, at least 5-600 views since this came out. Such a perfect, perfect fun electric vibe/performance. I’ve showed so many of these drum cams to people to help understand slipknot. Without even saying it’s “metal”, or “scary music” 😂 watching him play head their heads moving with him. That’s not something you’re told to feel. It’s in his rhythm, energy, dedication. Now it’s been nearly 10 years. This man hasn’t “replaced” Joey. Nor took his job. He got the opp. to preform with the greatest band, and that’s not easily said. He made his footprint. And here we are. This is at this time 2 years old. And at least 5x a week repeatedly I watch his cams. He’s not Joey, he IS jay Weinberg 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Two complete VAD506 systems (drums, cymbals, pedals, two TD-27 brains) like Jay has will run you about $10,000 USD. It sounds expensive..... until you consider that you'd easily spend that amount on a Pearl Masterworks set and some Zildjiam A Customs, and that's before hardware.

I think I've spent around 10 grand now on my kit with mics and mic stands etc. Compared to this set, this set is much more versatile, you can choose whatever sound you want, you don't have to struggle with (or buy) mics. There are some cons also of course but you can even play this electric set without disturbing your neighbors.
