Jamie Lee Curtis was always my favorite. Talented, funny and cute.

Was on business a couple years ago, staying at the Shagri-La in Santa Monica and opened the door for Jamie Lee. She was smiling big, said thanks and smartly got into her....grey Tesla Model S and drove off. :)

I met Jamie Leigh Curtis back 20 years ago when I was working at Santa Monica Ford as a sales manager, several times. She was always nice 😎 She still looks great !!!

Oh man, my 1st car was a '74 Mercury Capri. Mine was a V6 2.8 in bright screaming yellow. It was amazing to see one in Jay's Garage. I can't remember the last time I saw a road worthy example.

Here in the UK a tidy 2.8 Ford Capri of that vintage. (or actually 3.0 if it was a mark2 ) would be worth a lot more than 4k...

@@MrGrumpyjohn01 American Mk1 had the 2.6 and 2.8 cologne V6 (also 2.0 sohc, 1.6 crossflow in early cars) and later US Mk2 had 2300 sohc :lima: and 2.8 V6 --- same size engine like in a Granada Mk1 carb one, or the later 2.8i) .... there were no 3.0 V6 for the US exports.

A 1974 Mercury Capri was the first "new" car I ever bought. It was a great little car that I wish I still had.

@3:00 I knew that was a VW bug! I had a '66 6V one that I bought for $200.00 in the '70s. I called it "Von Wreckedoften" because it had been!

In my previous company, we had contract with NBC. I had a chance to work in the Jay Leno's office. You would think his office would be huge, but it wasn't. What I found intriguing about his office was not the random hole on one side of the wall, but he had a handful of wall clocks that were insync to the seconds and every so often we would see him ride into the lot with his massive car selection. That bike with a jet motor looked awesome.

There's no mistaking that Beetle sound. I think she just decided to pick the most un-Beetle-like thing she could think of.

@@stizzoforizzo898 actually the flat 4 in a beetle is very smooth. It’s inherently balanced. You can start the vw engine on the ground. And the operation of a beetle or any air cooled vw improper order is very smooth compared to most cars of its day and for decades after.

@@stizzoforizzo898 This is true, it is. Have you driven a well maintained original Beetle? If you haven't, you might be very surprised at how smooth it is in operation, especially compared to other cars of its time.

That was funny. Jamie not hearing one of the easiest engines of all time , you could forgive her if she had said Porsche, I to learned and past my first test in a beetle, I was so nervous I even pulled away in second gear and the instructor did not notice it was so clean, I only realised when I reached for the shift and found it already in the wrong gear.

My dad had a 1960 Black Beetle with a none synchromesh manual 4 speed floor shifter and trans. Nice little machine.

I thought she was kidding when she said that the horn doesn't sound like a big car. And then when it was started up you could tell it was a bug.

When I was stationed at LRAFB I would stretch VW frames to fit dune buggy bodies. The officers there had a passion for them at that time.

For '66, the VW Beetle upgraded from 1200 cc to the 1300 cc engine in the U.S. & produced 50 HP (gross). For '67 it was increased to 1500 cc.

Volo Car Museum had her dad's Firebird for sale a few years ago, I hope it shows up in this video!

My wife when we were dating and for several years after we were married had a '73 Mercury Capri.

Hello Jamie Lee Curtis and Jay Leno, the advantage to driving really fast in reverse is on display in the movie " The Blob (1958). Alas Ms. Curtis, I remember that your Dad had a very nice Rolls Royce convertible.

VW Beetle engine always sounds like there is a loose washer rattling, can't mistake it.

I had a 68 Beetle in German red, with cal-type windows.

Imagine in Europe you could have this Capri with a 1300 V4 or 1300 ohv with 50-55 HP :D that was slow. US at least had the 2000 sohc which is not slow (101 HP in Europe, 88? in US with catalytic converter ?) or the big V6 but not same power as european versions due to emissions (106, 108 HP , vs 125, 135 HP, later 160 HP in Europe from same engines)

Those first generation Capris were built in Cologne, Germany, by Ford of Europe.

yes, they also build them in England for some European countries, Australia and South Africa for left side traffic countries. It was sold as FORD CAPRI in the rest of the world (not "without name" Capri or as a "Mercury") also they had the third generation in Europe (made up to 1986) which was a major facelift of the Mk2. -- and in US the third generation was not available as they introduced the fox Mercury Capri :) Later there was also a Australian made Ford Capri XR2 (convertible based on Mazda platform - front wheel drive)

I thought after the "Older Folks" crack Jamie was going to smack Jay! Great episode!

There's no way this beetle came with a 1600cc engine. I think 1300cc was the max even available at the time.

Well, I knew the Beatle just from the horn but any doubt was removed as soon as it started. In fairness, my hobby was building the dub engines for cars and sand rails. I loved them. The Manx was fun but not something for a guy that liked girls!! As an off-roader the wheelbase was too short too. Cool but nothing I ever owned.

Del Trotter had a green Capri, in Only Fools and Horses.

Someone goofed on the horsepower rating for the 1972 Capri 2000. It was rated at 86 net horsepower, not 66(as in the video).

She reminds me of my late Mother, and physically, of Mom's baby sister. MY first car, a 1956 Plymouth Savoy, 318 and 3 on the tree. $ 100.00! (Two years older than me.) steve

My second and 3rd cars from '78 - '83. Mine were both '73, a 4 cyl & a V-6.
