Hey Jay... you know, my favorite videos to watch are the time lapse with a narration over. I'm no KZreadr, so I don't know how tough that is, but it seems like if you just set the camera up for time lapse then you save all that time trying to explain to us what you are doing. You can focus on the work and then once you edit you'd have a good idea of what you want to tell us... what you are doing... explanations... etc. The sound track over the time lapse is okay too... you do a good job with that. Thanks for sharing this project with us. I always love to see hard working people making progress in turning their visions into reality. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving.

I hope you realize that 3 tab shingles need a minimum of 3/12 pitch for standard (non-seal) underlayment like 15 lb felt...for your 2/12 pitch, you'll have to use stick down underlayment (such as Grace Ice & Water Shield) or Zip System stick down.

Lap your overhangs back to the next rafter. Maybe a drop truss setup for your exterior rafter (make 1 1/2 shorter in height from the rest) and lay your overhangs horizontally. Screwing FOT on your second rafter and on top of your drop. You could either rip your exterior trusses 1 1/2 from long point to long. Or but not the best way, you could notch out your overhang on the rafters where your over hang goes an 1 1/2 as well. This to help more with structural weight load.

What I love about you two is that even when there is a problem, you take an up-beat look at it and just work to fix it. What a great example for all of us.

Jason, get yourself that stanley adjustable square. Best thing for rafters. Set the pitch/angle on the square and go.

Two other ways to nail the second band board. Use a pneumatic palm nailer or set nails/screws from inside the garage roof.
