I weigh 500lbs and needed my own custom bed frame. I used all 2x4's, 12"OC with 9 legs that come down. I used OSB as the surface and wrapped it in black landscaping plastic to protect the bottom side of my mattress. I will always recommend someone build a bed frame/base if they have the capability. It's so nice knowing it's going to be strong for ever.

If you wanted the baskets to be 18x18 internal then you should have made the spaces about 20x18. Accounting for the width of the basket frames etc. Also, are you going to use soft close rails or are the baskets just being out on the floor? What about all the wasted space in the middle ? Could have been used for something probably.

re: Lexel @37:00 adhesion/waterproofing is *opposite* of what's important underneath a mattress. For healthy sustainable sleep, you'll need ventilation to prevent microbes/mold taking up residence in an "enclosed" space ---> use a hole saw drill bit to make large openings in your plywood at 1 ft intervals (same idea as holes on a cat carrier) to allow air to remove the respiration moisture from your bodies as you sleep!!!

Good going Jay, beds aren't precision so your 3/8" will be lost. I'm liking the walnut stain you've used it looks really good. I made my son a captain's bed, many years ago, with a closet at the head. There was a hidden compartment at the bottom of the closet so he could hide under the bed as all the sides were covered. Please wear a mask when you sand, I was like you, but then my lungs got diseased with Pulmonary Fibrosis and now I'm terminally ill, there is no treatment, no cure. Please just consider it, at the the end of the day it is up to you. Great post, thanks for sharing, keep safe and well 🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨

You are doing well on your own. Your voice is easier to listen to when you don’t sound like you’re yelling. Be well!

Hey Jay, why not mix all that saw dust the table saw gives you with some wood glue and a small amount of water. Nail holes will be completely invisible...

Hi Jay, watching you build the bed frame reminded me of a similar situation when we moved in to our first home. I learned very quickly that simple is best and so it was nice to watch you making this simple frame. Love the channel and looking forward to the next installment. Stay safe J.

Nice work Jay! Good call on the black paint around the perimeter. I actually did a very similar project at the start of 2022, and the wife loved it - thats all that matters right. Cheers bud

Another good video Jason, but it would have been a whole lot better with Stephanie or NaNa making an appearance.

Yeah, we just said Stephanie hasn’t been enough videos lately. So we’re gonna try to get her in some. Thanks for watching.
