I started shooting in 2013. I researched all the great image creators. Jay Maisel showed up on my radar because I loved Miles Davis “Kinda Blue”. Jay Maisel shot the Album Cover. I loved his conversation with Scott Kelby. Bought his books and dam, the inspiration from him is overwhelming because what he speaks about is so simple, the joy of seeing. To appreciate what our eyes can see and how we interpret what we see with our cameras. This has given me so much value. A big thank you to Jay.

There was enough in this video to move me to action. I had put down my camera, and thought my love affair was over. I picked it up again today. Thanks.

The more I get to know Jay through these short documentaries, the more I like the man. I go along with the relaxed attitude and the experience it brings. I recommend you discover *Jay Maisel* too, I know you're going to like him and his images. :) #forsharing

Fact that Jay is able to find beauty in NYC while dodging muggers, the homeless, hookers, and just ordinary addicts is a miracle in itself and makes him a very special person.

Jay Maisel is beautiful and real and his images reflect that. I get to see him again at Photoshop World Orlando 2013 and I can't wait!

Jay is the best...Manhattan is a stage, everywhere you turn, there is a photograph...Jay knows how to capture it all. I have the Kelby Training DVD's (See Brad Moore below) can't watch them enough.

Recently discovered his work and really enjoyed this documentary. so many things to take away from it, most of all it has inspired me to just stay out there and shoot. I feel so much pressure to specialize and his words help me in resisting that. Thanks Jay.

Great to hear Jay Maisel, a master of seeing, in his own words what photography is to him. I love the idea of having a camera with you always. That's the only way to anticipate the great shots. They happen around you just as much as those that set up.. Personally I prefer the former.

Jay Maisel is definitely his own person. Thanks for the video, and it was also great to see Greg Heisler as well.

If your idea of photography is getting a group shot where everyone is smiling and no one blinked, then you haven’t even scratched the surface of how photographers think.

If you want to spend more time with Jay, there are three classes that range from an hour and a half to two hours on Kelby Training (dotcom). You can rent them for $10 apiece, or do a 1-month membership for $25 that gives you access to the entire catalog of classes. I am a Kelby employee, but I would recommend these even if I wasn't. Jay's an amazing person, so I don't know how you can go wrong by spending more time with him!

I first learned about Mr. Maisel from the British show "The Genius of Photography" and have been an ardent admirer of his work, but more impressively the way he lives in the moment. Were he reading this, he'd probably say I shouldn't be here watching this video or typing this comment. I should be out shooting now....
