Mental age is a thing, and sure...Jay is still a young man at heart, but he ain't got much left in this world, and he'll find out it was all a waste of time. I can relate, I'm also a burn survivor. I am 98% of my body covered in 3rd degree or worst burns. I was burned at almost 2 years old, had a 1% chance to live, and here I am today at 38 years old. I, too, wish my skin had healed the way Jay's did but then again, I'm so used to looking this way that I wouldn't want to change. I understand the looks! I can't go anywhere at all without scaring some kids, people literally stopping what they're doing, some snickering, gasping, disgust, and even anger. I've had people tell me I should be hidden in a basement and how dare I show my face in public. I've even been told I should just have died or to go die. I've heard the worst of the worst, but I keep going. From one burn survivor to another, I see you, and you're not alone, my friend!

I am a retired trauma anesthesiologist physician. Jay is totally lucky. I have worked with burn patients and in burn operating rooms. Burns are about the worst thing that can happen to anyone. Head swells up like a pumpkin with ears, toes, and fingers melted away. Huge Eschar develop which can affect breathing if chest involved. You can lose all your skin which means body fluid balance is a huge issue. Multi organ failure is a real possibility. Lots of fluids/blood with weeks to months of rehab. Scar formation with limited mobility if involves arms/legs. Really be careful with flammable liquids. Jay looks great. Great doctors and nurses for sure.

You see it all the time in how cops treat black people, and also in healthcare settings, retail, job sites, etc. and it’s unacceptable and yes it is my job to call out anything I see that is wrong. But having said that, I have many health care professionals as friends who definitely would treat a person of color with the same respect and care that Leno got. Honestly it's really wholesome to hear Jay Leno in such a happy mood and able to make jokes about the whole situation after what he went through. Good for him! I mean it sucks that his face was on fire but good for him that he got out of it and was taken care of at the hospital and good for him that he is still in a cheerful mood and can still make jokes after such a traumatic experience.

To be fair, his original skin decided to grow back in its original position after only a few days. Didn't really give the grafts a chance to do their thing. As if it were only a pale imitation. A little selfish IMO.

Yes. Once on Jay Leno's Garage, he showed off a new revolving platform for his home car garage. Me and a lot of others were on him for being so rich that he has a revolving floor while the rest of us have to back out ourselves. He never brought it up again. He knows not to show off.

I can attest to the fact that Jay is a super kind, and generous human being. I can also attest to his love for pizza. And am not surprised at all he bought the nurses pizza. He owns a beautiful mansion in my hometown of Newport RI. And he's a regular at one of our local pizza shops (a place that I used to work at, and my brother works at currently). He gets delivery sometimes too. Always kind, tips great, and has no problem takin a photo with someone either. But it's not just that. While I haven't met him myself. My friends in town that have, say he's absolutely no different then any other customer. He's really still that down to earth guy, like most of us, despite being incredibly wealthy, and ridiculously famous. That to me is absolutely amazing. ✌️

My father lived for decades after SERIOUS burns over most of his body. He had a lot of scarring but lucked into the treatment of a very clever and careful doctor who did great work on my father's face and hands so he remained rather handsome and fully functional for the rest of his life. I greatly appreciate doctors, nurses and other health care people and very much want them to be well compensated for the work they do. I'm not a fan of the profiteers of the health care industry.

You could tell Jay was self-conscious when Dave was talking about the accident and the whole idea he clutched his best bud to his chest to put out the fire risking his own safety said it all that shows how a friend who truly loves you acts. And he even joked about his wife but thought of her first before himself as That is LOVE. Very Humble and humorous and amazing he didn't have any pain meds, as a disabled person i can't imagine
