During Morissette's Kumu sessions her normally bubbly personality shows. But whenever her fans requests a sad song... she "protests" that its too sad. Then she would go into the character of the song. She truly feels the songs she sings. Singing for her is not merely hitting the notes.. its absorbing the message of the song and living it out for the moment.

I have been following this lady for more than 4 yrs. now and I've never heard or read anything about her having been trained by a vocal coach. Her first influence was her father who was a rock musician. In the Philippines getting a vocal coach is only for the privileged ones. The secret is to compete as an amateur at a very young age, as much as you can because there are hundreds of singing competitions going on. But it's so hard to be recognized and much so achieve stardom. But singing is a way out to get your family in a much better status. Filipinos take singing seriously.

I've seen Demi sing this song a few different times Live and I think Morisette topped Demi on this particular performance. Intensity is at par with each other but showmanship in terms of emotional expressiveness coupled with those intentional pleasant sounding voice cracks and those runs, Omg! Mori is superb and her doing that sitting down.

Great reaction! She definitely is UNDERRATED. She is one of the best vocalists of this generation with and without a studio. Trust me, I grew up listening to Mariah, Celine, Whitney, and many greats. She just sang some live sessions on her yt channel. Talk about talent! Aw, Kay! I feel you. It will be her 10 year anniversary this year. That is one issue with Morissette. A lot of her live versions r fan “fan cams” and some have iffy video and sound quality.

@@OOCFM why is she not liked in the phillipines? Is it because of the ENORMOUS explosion of artists there? Too many to name? Ive heard the majority of them and the talent is amazing. None of them however have the special characteristics that encompass Morrissette. She has the growls and squeaks and incredible tone along with the ability to emotionally transfer her feelings into the listeners unlike anyone ive heard outside of the true greats. Again why is she not popular in home country? That seems impossible to me?

I have heard all the singers you mentioned however and the only one I personally think is even in Morries class is Katrina V. By the way in the live performance of the righteous brothers song is that Katrina V singing with Morrie in the shadow???
