Great haunted house routine. Jay's echoes are fabulous. He was the top dog in the 70's.

this guy is truely awesome. I can't believe he is not even more known than he is. He was awesome on "SOAP" but his stand up routines were very very good. That dudes mouth never moves like so many you can see. Love it.

My favorite scene from Soap is Jay and Billy Crystal. "Jodie" has hidden "Bob" from "Chuck" and they have a heartfelt talk over breakfast about how Chuck needs to speak for himself. He appears to be getting through to him, but the whole time "Chuck" has been carving his grapefruit into a new ventriloquist figure and he starts talking through it.

Yes, that scene was hilarious. Jay was the best thing about Soap.As a kid watching the show would just wait for "Chuck & Bob" to show up.

One of the best. heck probably THE best, at least that I have ever seen.... Plus I love his sense of humor and the wit in the acts he does as well as appreciating the skill with which he performs. The illusion is really almost flawless, he is so good. Makes others look like complete hacks.

Jay mediates hypnosis, "why should a painter work if he is not transformed by his own painting?" while he hypnotizes the audience too, assuring them with ventriloquial brilliance it is safe to go into magical thought. a great act, plot perfect, and with an actor's insight to start with the haunted house and the great fun of echoes. Overall here depicts as well, the roots of his later career and what would become, theater, a ventriloquist, starring in his own one man show on Broadway.

This is VERY EARLY Jay.... pre-Bob! Dunham isn't anywhere near this good even after many years and his material isn't a fraction as clever.

Not bad. But nothing compared to Dennis Spicer. Some have tape recorders in the dummies. Can be very misleading. ⁷
