Jay Baruchel on existential dread and why he stayed in Canada
Ойын-сауық
It’s been more than two years since the series debut of We're All Gonna Die (Even Jay Baruchel), and the Canadian actor, writer and director Jay Baruchel is still worrying about humanity’s demise. Ahead of the Season 2 premiere of the award-winning docuseries, Jay joins Tom in studio to talk about his fear of death, how a children’s bible made him cry, and where his patriotism comes from.

I have a new respect for Jay Baruchel from this interview, especially as a fellow Canadian. What a genuine and awesome guy.
Tom Power is an amazing interviewer....makes all his interviewees so comfortable resulting in such wonderful interviews.
Jay Baruchel is an absolute gem.
I've always loved Jay Baruchel, his brand of patriotism is exactly how I feel about our great country. I feel proud everyday, especially when other Canadians like Jay are out there waving the flag.
Great Interview. Love that Jay loves Canada as much as he does.
Jay is a national treasure.
Baruchel is ace. Glad he does what he wants to do. x
Oh my God - what a fantastic interview! Love this sincerity
Jays a national treasure! We gotta get this guy doin more projects! If you need a fix, get your hands on the movie Good Neighbors! Went under the radar but very good.
What a great interview! What a bright insightful actor! Jay …..thank you!
what an awesome interview I was riveted -- yes you read that correctly - riveted to see where you guys were going. Loved every part of Tom's interviewing but just the stories and banter and Jay's story of his own Hollywood, There and Back Again - and his vision for how he wants to live his Canadian professional life phew, I think you've guessed that I enjoyed this immensely
I love Jay! Go Canada Go! ❤
Love Jay! As someone who lives in Waterloo I still find it weird that Blackberry was as big as it is. I pass by their buildings and just shake my head.
Wonderful interview, good conversations like this are always over soon. Thanks for always asking good questions and bringing out the best in your guests. Not sure I’ve ever seen an interview with Jay, but now I feel like I know him. Best show around, Tom!
This was a really nice interview to watch ❤ Jay seems like a well grounded and intelligent dude 👌
Great insight and interview eh 💯🇨🇦👍🏻
This is one of the best interviews ever done, and that is not even about Jay and Tom as individuals, it's just a master class in how it should be done.

Great interview and discussion, huge respect
Fricken Awesome! I need more of THAT!!❤
Does anyone remember "popular mechanics for kids" with Jay and Elisha Cutberg? It was back in the 90's
He was fantastic in BlackBerry - never got enough recognition for that role.
Really enjoyed this. Thank you!
Been a fan since TVO kids this guy helped raise me lol
Tom is a gifted interviewer, and I loved getting to know this side of the real Jay. I was riveted which doesn't happen often! Good job, lads.
I’m just a guy in a small country, in a small town, but man, I do love Jay Baruchel.
this dude's voice was essential to my dragon-loving childhood and it's great to see years later that we share a lot of thoughts in common. seems like a real cool dude
Jay is a gem and so is Canada ❤❤❤
Amazing
Such a fun watch. Wish it was longer
Jay is the best💪🏻
I see existential dread or Jay Baruchel I'm in. I was an extra on Goon. He was a good guy and it's a fun movie.
I've loved these Q sessions for years .... This was exceptional as always! Thank you for all you do Tom
A former Montrealer myself; I feel so many parallels with Jay.
Aren't I glad I'm in Canada "Jay Baruchel" I voted for that right about the Quebec question, as a British Columbian I'm glad you did, I also respect that fact, that Indigenous at least in British Columbia they now have legal rights for their Aboriginal land rights, that's something down there, in US it's like Huh? What are you talking about? So isn't that what movie's are made for? One would think and hope so!
Great cat, would love to work with him again. Good interview! Cheers. \m/
Jay Baruchel needs to play The Talos Principle 1 and 2
Need a Man Seeking Woman revival.
Bello
Man Seeking woman did not get the attention and credit it deserved. I wish it hadn’t been cancelled! 🙀
While watching this I get a BBC alert "The vast ravines swallowing whole neighborhoods around the world". So... thats nice.
Did he have an episode of PMK where he was behind the camera and working the gear too?
He mentioned Oshawa Ontario. Im from there.
How many Montreal kids worked with Nicholas Cage? .. I remember feeling thrilled for him 😊⭐ .. he did it right 👌
Do 'we' Canadians pronounce eschew with a K sound or did Jay get it wrong or have his American come through?

Ai = intelligent automation....of tools, bots, cars, machinery...you'll automate the office using AI for repeatable tasks/processes. customer-facing work will require people until the robots are so refined you won't care if it's a bot or a person. note automation tools have been around for years the AI term is "new" and trendy...
0:19 super disappointed by the intro. Decided to stick with it. 0:41 funny 0:58 he's so likable 1:04 lol obligatory tiktok mention 1:34 mother-son dynamic got me intrigued. Let's goooo 1:57
I'll take a stand, CEGEP is the best public schooling system in Canada, and I'm not kidding :)
it would be amazing to see Jian G get interviewed..
Jian looks different.... get better soon, mr. ghomeshi! a shave will make you feel better :)

lol Did you watch one video with Shad years ago and then only listen to Q from that point forward?
This guy should'nt be allowed to vote in Québec
I disagree with Mr.B. .Baby Boomers came of age in the best time in Canada's history. We had the best of everything: education, the arts, culture.and medicine. There will never be a time like that again.

Of course your take away from this entire conversation is that someone didn't worship the boomer generation 🙄
