Jaw Rock Crusher - BUILD Ep.4

Using the old 1k62 lathe to turn and thread bolts and adapters. Machining an adapter on the lathe and vertical steel milling machine for the mag drill so I can use a hole saw. Turning a camshaft / eccentric shaft for the moving jaw of the rock crusher.
What is a jaw rock crusher - a crusher that has jaws and crushes rocks, concrete, bricks etc. and turns it into gravel.

I think most of those jaw crushers like that use bushings on the eccentric shaft instead of bearings. The bearings just can’t take that kind of abuse. I have a rock crushing/gravel pit excavation company about a 3000 feet from my house. Go up there often.

Was thinking... I bet you could adapt your firewood conveyor system to work with this crusher as well. That way, you can load the crushed material right into a trailer as it's being crushed so you can move it around to where you need it easier. Just an idea I had, not sure if it'd actually work or be practical in the end.

My three-jaw would have tossed that cam after about 30 seconds. It doesn't like interrupted cuts. My holesaws last a long time because my drill press sucks. It stalls out before it breaks the teeth off. I also add compressed air to help clear the chips or back it out often and run a wire brush on the teeth for a second. Nice video, I hope the build is as good as the content you put up on your channel.

I think it should be enough. You do not really need to move the plate that much even the smallest amount is enough to bind and crush rocks. Someone said maybe 10mm to 20mm is the offset. Though I think it will work very well. If not its just a new shaft that has to be made.

When your good looks won't take you where you want to go, then reinvent the wheel. I wondered how to make a straight line "Oblong" and then call it a crankshaft theoretically.... right?? Same principle but less journals on the unit and no connecting rods. Hardly wait to see it in operation... Just hope that the jaw is big enough to grind the stone. I am fairly sure where you live there are enough rocks to line the ocean floor and make a highway to the usa. I had a garden in a small town I lived in. Nice little town and well named... Rockport Washington. For every shovelful were at least fifty rocks of all sizes as well as the ones that were big enough to build a house IN them.
