The look on your face when you first fired it up says it all, I think the bikes from that era, late 90's-early 2000's, are some of the best looking and the color schemes you used are perfect, the fact that you can still get new plastics for older bikes makes all the difference, it certainly has for my builds, outstanding work Rado.

I'm 69 and that bike looks totally awesome and it's 20 years old if I had that back in my day I'd definitely be king of the MX even with a 125 nice ride

What an amazing build, only in America! I do think you can get reconditioned radiators with clean straight fins though. And this black wheel fad is just annoying, looks better in old school silver. Does boring it out so much cause trouble in the future if you want to rebore once it's scored? Maybe one of these new carbs that don't need jetting. Just my opinion, but other than that good job.

How do you apply the radiator guard decals?

Great Video and a clean job. What Hydo blaster do you use? It is a shop unit or do you farm it out? What force of cleaning is it and what parts do you usually hydro blast? I've done about 5 full restorations and I appreciate your attention to detail. You're a man of the same cloth as me. I should post up my restorations to a 2005 YZ250 which I converted to an Eric Gorr 300 kit. I miss that bike. And a conversion of a YZ144 big bore to a 2008 YZ450F frame where I fabricated a new Air boot and fabricated it out of carbon fiber using a clay mold.

thanks brother, glad you like it. I go to Sano Metal Finishing, my buddy Chris owns that shop and has pro level blaster. I blast all the aluminum parts, entire engine and sometimes rubber stuff too like airbox, stock hoses and clamps and other small pieces. I would love to see your projects. any links?

glad you like it, all the part retail and some custom work would get you around $8-10k

Picked up a 2001 Yamaha YZ125 for $750. It needs a new gas tank. It does run. It needs some TLC......not sure yet if I'm going to do a frame up resto at this point or not. It's gonna look good sitting next to my 2023 Yamaha YZ250. Looking forward to riding the 125 soon.

Frame looks cool but it’s made of the wrong material I think by now the mx world will realise that it is more expensive to create a aluminium frame so the steel frame bikes are making a fortune but champions will not come again as Yamaha Honda Suzuki and kawi have been r and d for years now and I believe they have made it a far superior part than steel tubing come on its 1990s technology. Let’s put it this way in America there is about 5 or six riders that can go pretty much were they want. Henceforth cooper Webb Eli tomac. Jett Laurence danger boy. I’m just saying that in the industry the top boys will be riding factory bikes with aluminium frames the rest that are lucky enough to get a factory ride will be on a steel frame bike in 12 th position. What chase sexton just did is a big big mistake for him. If I was chase I would approach kawi and say look your number 9 is done I am either the best or second best in the world and steel number 9 s ride.
