@@akshaynaik2491 it's 100% the real deal. look it up. he's a big part of how India has gotten its first every track and field gold - which is sort of crazy for a population that big really as even tho they are not sporty for 1.36 billion people it's well... not impressive.. they targeted this event with this athlete and got the coaching expertise in.

Javelin had very unusual trajectory, especially in final stage of the flight. It did not lose that much speed after it passed its highest point in air. Usually it ( "new javelin " ) loses speed and height quite fast after highest point, it does not fly like old javelin. We dont know much about wind in that evening, but technique was perfect.

Javelins speed is lowest when it's at its highest position. It's speed increases after it falls from its highest height. Javelin falls at the same velocity on the ground at which it's originally thrown. You are giving false explanation.

  • @stagna1959

@@suxpop2171 when I talked about "speed of javelin", of course it meant moving away from start line horizontally meters per second until landing / stop. Most of failed / short attempts rise very high in air and then fall to ground almost vertically. Whats the point of great "landing velocity " if javelin does not move much forward from start line any more after passing the highest point in air? Zelezny managed to achieve perfect trajectory with great initial speed. Initial speed is not problem for many very strong athletes, trajectory is.

A few years ago I remembered the Zelesny world record and wanted to see if the record still existed. I was surprised because that was almost 25 years ago. The announcer freaked out and promised Zelesny a house. I don't know whether he actually got it. The Jena stadium is very flat and back then the grandstand was much flatter than it is today. Presumably the wind carried the spear well, but that shouldn't detract from its performance. A toss into the new millennium and in a few years I'll have a look to see if the record still holds. I will always remember that. Thank you Jan Zelesny for this event.
