Repairing Jatco JF506E solenoid problem on VW Golf V5. Very harsh gear shifting.

    Go for it, it's not as bad as it looks! A couple of months later and this gearbox is still silky smooth on the gearchanges.

    I've got this same gearbox in my Rover 75 CDTi. I must admit, it's leaving alot to be desired and I'm tempted to slap all new solenoids and a full fluid flush into it. It's done 180k and doesn't appear to slip in any particular gear when selected but the shifts are pants. Gets worse as it gets warm too.

    It's probably the main pressure regulating solenoid. I'd have a go at changing that one first before swapping the lot. I found a new one on ebay for about £20, it's made by mitsubishi

    Hey dude can u remember how much oil it took for refill?? Also I have issue with intermittent reverse and delayed changes, do u think this could be my issue please???

    did you have to remove coolant hoses to access the fluid fill point for pan?

    No i don't think so. I used a long piece of 10mm tube with a small funnel to fill up. It took a while but was easy enough to do.
