And phones with multiple speakers have been around for several years, now. So, this is certainly normal today. My cheap phone comes with Dolby Atmos built in. Atmos can work with up to 64 channels, obv not using that many in a phone. IDK what an iphone does. Oh man, I love the blueprint for the Bourne myth. Adam: _nerds out about Bourne and shows off a movie prop he acquired_ Jamie: _literally does not care_ I don't remember if they showed it in the episode, but the NASA guys were very impressed by how Grant and Tory approached the problem. They never considered the possibility that a slowly leaking lavatory valve might result in a big chunk of frozen whatsit.

True, but at cruising altitude, the air speed is higher and the temperature is colder. It's not a perfect test for sure. Still cool/fun.
@Phished123
26 күн бұрын
yeah not only was it more dense but the smooth shape of the formed ice like an ice cube would also make it more aerodynamic, which would generate more heat, but make it harder for the wind resistance to break the ice up. Im sure its possible for this to happen in real life, but i bet its highly unlikely.
@hanzosbm1
25 күн бұрын
@@jackfranks7160 Yes, but in the wind tunnel, they had to increase temperature to get it fall off, simulating lower altitudes (not sure if they changed airspeed at all). I wish they would've stayed a little more consistent on this one (what temp did the ice fall off? What approximate altitude does that correspond to? What is the density of the ice formed in this way? How would it have reacted?) My gut feeling is that it's still plausible, but I would've liked to have seen it done more accurately.

Great episode, though I do have to point out that Jamie's disappointment in explosion not blowing out windows is unwarranted because the windows were stronger than the plywood walls. If it was a proper european building made of stone, the windows would have blown out. In my lifetime there has been about five gas explosions in the city that I live and each time the explosion blew out the windows of the house or apartment where it occured.

What's funny about the Bourne result, specifically the more continuous open flame, is that it implies a version of the scene where instead of the apartment exploding before the bad guys even get inside, it's after a couple minutes of them investigating the apartment when it suddenly bursts into flames with them INSIDE. Kinda feel like that would have been MORE dramatic XD
I really miss the show. I wish they would have tested propane as well. One of my colleagues was killed a few months ago when his wife's father's house EXPLODED due to leaking propane. It was not a "woosh" at all, but such a large explosion, there was nothing left but the foundation of the house. Killed three people in the house - one survivor.
Aww, Adam, I'll listen to how much you love the Bourne movies

@@pilsplease7561 Airbus isn't Soviet, it's a multinatinal EU company, they had a research center in Russia but they don't work there anymore and like Boeing they no longer sell spare parts to Russia, that's why a lot of planes were falling all over Russia after months without proper mainteinance. And all those "Russian" Beoing and Airbus planes were stolen from companies from other countries, all planes that were in Russian territory when the sanctions were imposed were stolen by the state and given to their own airlines that never owned a Boeing or Airbus before, they were renting them at most. And all the Boeing failures where due to Donald Trump (best friend of Putin outside Russia) who allowed Boeing and other American manufacturers to bypass (give the middle finget to) the FAA and certify their own (poor) work and the (low) quality of the products they were making. There is a slight issue I have with a testing methodology for the explosion myth. I have personally witnessed a house explode from a leaking gas pipe. The gas pipe was leaking for around 25-30 minutes. And all it took was one spark in the whole house was reduced to rubble and it was made of cinder block and brick. Pieces of it hit my mom's place. I heard it from my apartment. It shook the ground
@derpmanaveragegamer7791
26 күн бұрын
that wasnt the myth though? they know it will explode/burn *eventually* since it does happen IRL alot. the myth was that you could have it happen as quickly and in the same fashion as in the movie, which you cant. you get the explosion from the spontaneous ignition of all the natural gas at the same time, where as the movies slow leak doesnt give enough time for the gas to reach a proper mixture ratio and causes it to act as a fire accelerant instead of a explosive ignition.

@jimhjortsberg2990

Doesn't really matter for toasters. They aren't using the full potential of the 230v network as that would just turn your bread into charcoal. And the difference in time it takes for the element to heat up is miniscule as it so small.
@horussees
27 күн бұрын
It's not the voltage consumed, it's the amps to wattage, 230v toasters use ~5 amps, which is 1150w, 120v uses ~10a, which is 1200w. So pretty much same power output.

There is a trend of YT posted television shows having extremely poor audio quality. My theory is that the creator of the videos is not mixing down a surround signal to 2 channel stereo. Often, the announcers voice (which I theorize should be in the center channel) gets lost in the mixdown and is often very quiet or non-existent. I'm just spitballing here.
