Jason and Travis Kelce discuss the Damar Hamlin incident and how it impacts the entire NFL

Спорт

Not our usual show this week, right now with only one topic on everyone’s mind it felt right to dedicate our entire video to discussing the incident that happened during Monday Night Football involving Bills Safety Damar Hamlin.
The thoughts and prayers from everyone here at New Heights are with Damar, his family, and everyone from the Bills and Bengals organizations.

In 2020 my then 22 yr old son was in a UTV accident. I got the call 12 hours after it happened. Initially I knew nothing other than he was in ICU, three hours away. He fractured 2 vertebrae and severed his spinal cord. He's a T9 paraplegic now. Knowing he was all alone that whole time and being so far away was the worst feeling as a mother. The not knowing was gut wrenching. While not the same as cardiac arrest, the unknown for a few days was terrifying. My God watch over Damar and his family.

Jason has always been described as the "ethereal thinker" of the two, so it's no surprise to me that he seemed further along in the process and vocalizing of the thoughts. I have been struggling with this a lot. I can't watch or think about football right now. I just want to know he's making forward progress. I've been checking for updates two-three times a day. Pray for Hamlin 🙏❤️

Much love guys to you and all the NFL. Been praying for Damar, his family but didn't even think of the rest of all the players on every team. I will now though. I think as a fan of football one of millions we all have heavy hearts for what happened. I was watching talking to my sister who was watching at her house and I told her when he went down this isn't good, not at all and got off the phone and said a prayer right then. I seen a ESPN report just a little bit ago and it was said that the doctors seen last night what they wanted to see from him but he is still in ICU. So lets do our part if your the kind of person that prays keep it up and if not do what you do is all we can do right now. Thanks guys for coming on even though we know your hurting and with heavy hearts.

I was happy to see the coaches and teams not playing after this. I dont think anyone expected this type of experience.

I didn't realize the impact and importance of sports to people until New Year's day and I was watching the pouring rain outside having a cup of hot chocolate and then seeing Austin Ekeler's second TD run and being warm & safe and out of the cold and seeing the Chargers finally perform to my expectations a sudden burst of joy hit me and I realized I was happy for the first time in a long time. Been a rough few years. So thank you players for what you go through just to give us some measure of entertainment and happiness.

Let’s not forget Tee Higgins in this time…… I’ve heard he’s having a really rough time, and I can’t imagine how he feels, especially with the idiots on the internet and tv saying it was his fault and it was a dirty play. Dude lowered his shoulder to get a few more yards, just like these guys Travis included have always been taught to do. How many times have we seen Travis truck a CB….but they always get up. WHO DEY nation loves you Tee, and stands with Damar and want nothing more for him to be ok. I’m not usually a prayer, but I have been praying my butt off for that young man……and all the players that will eventually get back out there and do what they love. I hope you all stay safe the rest of this season, and we can get around to just playing football and may the best team win, but I don’t think anyone wants to run up against a “win it for Damar” driven Bills team. We may not know y’all, personally but we love you guys and nobody no matter what team you root for, wants to see any player on any team stay down, and be seriously hurt. Much respect to all of you guys, and I hope we can all get the awesome news that we need, that Damar is expected to make a full recovery and live a long happy life. Love to all of my fellow NFL peeps and players , and just the overall football community. I’m proud to be a part of that community. Keep fighting young man…….. And WHO DEY!

They hit the nail on the head when they talk about the players not being emotionally ready to return to that field. I can't imagine how many more injuries would have occurred that night if they had continued a game where nobody had their mind or heart in it.
