Lol i have wanted to main jarvan and this is the most detailed guide i have seen on youtube. This guide needs to be viewed more. 3 months in the making is alot of work. Hope you could do more like these when you have time. Do more popular champs because it will be in the algorithm more. And more recognition.

amazing video, incredibly helpful. ive probably watched it 3 times through by now. i love playing j4 and he has become my new main, but i often find myself wanting him to do more damage than he does. ive been theory crafting a more auto attack based build for high dps and was wondering if theres any merit to it at all. the core would be blade of the ruined king, trinity force, kraken slayer, with cdr boots most of the time. after the first 3 ive been trying storm razor and wits end. storm razor stacks very quickly because of how fast you attack with all the attack speed and lethal temp. Thanks for making such an amazing video! Edit: this would most likely be used in the top lane because of the constant dualing potential that j4 has, not sure how well it would do in jungle comparatively

Builds can vary at different levels of play. Something that might be able to work in silver won’t work in platinum. I urge my students to experiment with builds. I recommend what works for me in high elo because it will work at all levels. At my rank a build like this won’t work because you will just lose to a good adc. If you can get away with farming, splitting and dueling at your rank then go for it. But in most cases when jarvan engages hes not getting much opportunities to auto if hes squishy, so i would opt for a more upfront damage build which places his damage on his abilities rather than in dps. So if you need damage i would build things like eclipse and other lethality items since this synergises with your ability based damage.

That was the most impressive guide and presentation for a champ that I have ever seen. I'm going to add J4 to my champ pool because tanky champs with early powerspikes are very good rn in my opinion. Btw do you plan on doing K6 guide in the near future? Because I'm struggling with im in this season. ( I hate tank meta I guess...)

22:30 Yes, it is not a "better way", but it helped me with Jarvans E+Q+Flash combo. I see that you already use the different stages of Jarvans Knock Ups and Damage Knock Up Flashes, but for me a long time some flashes I've made worked perfectly well and some didn't even do any of damage or knock up, which confused me, because they all seemed to look the same. But they didn't. What I recommend to people that are just approaching these combos, is to put dummies like this (o=dummy) and plant the Flags on the left dummys or on different locations (x=Locations), check when Jarvan ACTUALLY Knocks up someone without flash and when he knocks up someone by flashing on different spots on the right side. (- empty field) x - - o - o x - - o - o x - - It is surprising what really works and what doesn't.

1:08:30 I like to go in the high blue bush and wait for them to blow their spells on blue, can steal the buff too, wastes more time and is bad if they gromp first but u can fight that too.

Man I always always just full cleared. I started looking to level 2 gank weak mid lanes and invade at level 3, currently I have an 80% winrate with jarvan (I'm only bronze 1). Just had a match where I ganked talon level 2 then got level 3 and killed a Kayne on his kruggs, snowballed and easily won

I think it's important to say that when you have multiple flags and you q through them all, it will only pull you to the closest flag.

Not too certain on the current patch items, I'm watching a lot of pro play atm and not playing myself. But in pro play right now I see very little opportunities to buy gore. Eclipse works on champs like jayce

I used to build it a few seasons ago but haven't so far for s13. I think lethality in some games is actually optimal. It's rare but has uses.

But even then, I've been having a lot of success in those situations w/ hydra and gore, so when would you recommend giving it a go? Maybe a case where you have to make up for a significant lack of AD, although I may be thinking about the uses of the build the wrong way.

Thanks for all the effort you put into the guide!! I have a question, how would the Jarvan vs Talon (jg) matchup go? Any tips from either side of the matchup? Btw, with Talon midlane, we often wait to put two points in W at lvl 3 because it lets us two-shot casters, so as you talk about in your early paths section, you might be able to gank Talon at lvl 3 if he greeds.

Thanks for the pointer on the 2 points w on talon mid, seems so obvious now that you mention it. I think in jg the j4 talon matchup is down to skill. There are pros and cons on both side obviously but it's pretty neutral.

Hey Coach, Im really thankful for the guide since it really helped me getting into j4. since i first watched the video and now lie 100 games on j4 with 66% win rate climbing quite fast out of silver. currently gold 2 with lot of potential to get dia this season i think. one question: u said you build the ionian boots 60% of the game. but i usually pick tabis or mercs because i always think they have some cc or some ad damage. what should i look for more in detail to make this decision? thank you a lot! gg Aaron

Hey Aaron! Ionina boots on Jarvan is just currently very overpowered in my opinion. The 20 ability haste makes your e-q a 4 second cooldown when you have goredrinker and black cleaver also. Because your E-Q is such a short cooldown you are dealing so much more damage, and also knocking up the enemy much more so the benefits you get from Tabis and Mercs is just not comparable to ionins. I usually only build tabis whe the enemy has 3 or more heavy auto attack based champions and mercs if I am vsing very heavy cc that I cannot e-q out of. Keep in mind things like grounding abilities or snares you can still use e-q during their cc duration so you do not need mercs for those forms of cc.

What is the name of the app you use to have the timestamps of the jg camps in the mini map? Awesome guide btw, looking forward to play some jarvan now

I think I use u.gg(I'm away from PC for Christmas with my family), there are a lot of camp timers out there to choose from, I started using it towards the end of season 12 because the Krug timer was always wrong. And they're inbuilt into china server I think they help a lot.

Can we get an updated version of this, please?

Yes, I'm not playing a lot of Xin currently as I don't think he's that good (he's fine like a solid B tier champ) so if I he becomes better I will play him and make a guide

I loved ur guide. But a have a question about sunfire aegis , when do u build it on tank j4 ? Cause we already have frozen heart , iceborn gauntlet, randuin, GA for the armor item.

Some games you're not going to need the frozen heart since the enemies won't have attack speed, some games you're not gonna have iceborn cos you went jaksho, some games you won't go randuins cos they don't have crit, and some games you're not going to go GA if you don't need the damage. Then Sunfire is the option - Jarvan is about being flexible when building the champion

Do you still think that ravenous hydra is good? I think it might be okay to build if you get a lot of kills early and building hydra would lead to a better snowball because of the high dmg, or if your team has low dmg (for example a tank top, supportive midlaner and tank/enchanter support) and you need to fill that slot or if your team has nearly only ap champs and you have to be the ad dmg source

I go the lethal tempo tank build when having damage will not change the game e.g. it's more teamfights focussed and my team has enough damage in their kits they don't need my own damage

Depends on the matchup and depends on side of the map you’re on

In the invade lv 3, is there any reason why you're starting red side ? That's because red buff gives you more dueling power, right ? I mean, that's why you're not doing blue -> gromp -> wolves -> ignoring your top camps and going invade on her wolves ? So, in this game, If Bel veth started top side as well for some reason the ideia would be clearing your top side and meeting her in her raptors or red buff ?

The reason I start red in this specific game is because my botlane is karma ezreal so I can path towards them after the invade. But yes redbuff is nice to have for invade. If Belveth started topside and went to red I would then do Red, Raptors, Gromp and invade for the fastest lvl 3 path to her camps.

I have a question why not by eclipse ? It will gives you shield and the with the extra damage and armor pen you can easily kill tanks and adc And 1 more thing do you think first strike can work on j4 because I tried it and you can gain a huge gold lead by forcing skirmishes early with your mid laner if you play duo

I was Jarvan main since 2019 but now the champ is like tier 5 and I don't want to play him because he is so underpowered, but he is only jungler I like. Is it worth playing him if it already was so hard to play in 2020 and 21?

Jarvan I think is one of the best and most versatile champions in the jungle right now. He is always playable even into the hardest team comps. He's my top soloq pick for jungle at the moment.

What about Sho'jin or Seralda's Grudge items? Are they inferior for core items?

I find it pretty rare I'm building Seralda's since in games vs heavy tank champs I just build black cleaver and play to peel my ADC. Shojin is good, I build it 4th or 5th usually with the lifesteal carry build

True - viego is a pretty easy matchup, you kinda just space him with your e-q and can make fighting very hard for him

Viego matchup is pretty even. J4 has better early gank power but doesn't win the 1v1 duel. But j4 will probs win early 2v2s with his attack speed and cc. But Viego does scale harder so aim to get wins in the early game and close out as a team.

ugh i do everythign i can with j4 but i always go 2/9+ every game idk what im doing im engaging 3v2 and we still lose

Jarvan is all about not wasting your e-q. Try review your engages, maybe you're engaging when your team can't follow up. It's a hard question for me to answer with little information but I hope this helps!

Hey I'm wondering what your thoughts on titanic hydra are, I usually build j4 tank with LT and will rush a tiamat to help with clear, then usually go into Iceborn and finish the titanic. Is there a reason it's not optimal?

I think titanic is wasted stats on the tank variant of J4. This is because there is no ability haste (AH) on titanic. AH on J4 is too good to giveup.

Great guide, not even great but the best guide on yt probably, but i can't help thinking vex killing sylas is your fault. Could be debatable, you are a challenger after all and I am only silver but it just hurt my eyes that whole second of you not going in even before I saw the outcome, especially because sylas was that low.

Wouldn't really recommend thornmail cuz chempunk chainsword is almost always better on jarvan. The stats are huge and you can rush it over black cleaver with the tank build if you need some healing reduction.
