We indian ( in many places) eat rabbit, deer, porcupine,pork or many other meats . In Bengal and Kolkata some people even eat beef. We just don't eat dog ,cat , horse, bat stuff like that. we can understand concept that other countries have their own eating habits and culture make every country different and special .

The Indian crested porcupine is protected under the India Schedule IV of the Indian Wildlife Protection Act of 1972, amended up to 2002. . so porcupine is not eaten in India

Even in Kerala we don't have any Restrictions in eating beef , rabbit, pork and etc , only wild animals like deer , porcupine and etc are not eaten because of our law in ancient Kerala they ate deer, wild bore, crow, wild bull and etc widely.

But when you see Indusvally civilization they used to eat beef , a similar culture was followed even after they migrating to south , we have several sangam litterateurs mentioning about eating beef ... The most striking thing is that a temple music instrument of Kerala called as ' Chenda ' is usually made out of cow skin mostly calfs ... The restrictions to meet was mostly a gangatic thing which was spread across the country, But Kerala being isolated from rest of India due to western ghats ( isolation means less invasions comparatively ) the cultural exchange might had not reached here in a large scale , that's why even today Kerala's Hinduism follows Tantric rituals whereas rest of India follows Sarthic rituals ...
