Fun Fact: This is kind of how technicians enter Diagnotic/Mantenance Mode on Vending Machines where you can also change the price on items and how much of those items are dispensed. You can EVEN get some money through the coin/change return! You just need to know the code or combo of buttons you have to push. I don’t know about Japan, but A LOT of the simple Soda Vending Machines in the US uses code/button order as simple as 1-3-2-4. Now go out there and see if you can figure out which button corresponds with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc… Thanks Pat for pointing this out! 🤣

Watching this hack, I remember a cursed vending machine horror story from a manga. This is unrelated to the hack but if you're interested: There's a vending machine near an elementary school where kids usually buy drinks from during the summer to beat the heat. Rumors spread among the children about a myth of the vending machine where you put in coins in an order (which I don't know of, they never show em) and you can get another drink for free. But the rules is you can only do this for 10 times. Pretty generous right? So a kid figured out the order of the coin and did this about 5 times. When his friends found out, they warned him not to to do it anymore or something bad is gonna happen. Ignorant and stubborn, he did it for the 6th time but instead of cold drinks, the machine spit out hot corn soup. This pissed off the kid. He kicked the and hit the machine over and over and keep on using the coin myth cuz he's not getting what he want, not knowing he already used the myth 10 times. For the 11th time he did it, a clump of hair came out instead of drinks. Guess what? Lil brat got sucked in the machine and never seen again. This is probably not a legend, just a story from a manga I read when I was a kid. Sorry if things doesn't make sense since I don't remember every detail
