in korean culture, a popular pairing is sweet potato and kimchi! you just add a piece of kimchi to each bite of sweet potato - thought i'd mention since i know you guys like kimchi too

Yes! I just bought sweet potato and kimchi, going to try tonight
Great job, Benji! My wife made this last week and it was good as always. She’s seen you make it on the main vlog for a while now so she’s been making it. Always a good meal 🙌
I haven't started to watch this video yet, but I wanted to say that I pulled up your older recipe after you mentioned it in one of Judy's vlogs recently. 10/10. So filling and such a great flavor profile! Adding that fried egg on top is the perfect breakfast.
curious andy here what does removing then inner piece of the green onion do?
Yes Beni I’ve been making this dish since you posted it such a long time ago I love you’re video and Judy’s you and you’re family and friends are much loved in our life thank you for all you all share with us god bless you and you’re family
Benji, you inspired me to try this many years ago. So delicious! Never thought to eat it for breakfast. Going to make this tomorrow, with a fried egg. Love your laid back videos!
Why do you only use the outer layer of the green onions?

That’s A good question was wondering the same thing
I’ve been watching you guys since before the girls! 😆 I have seen this potato in your vlogs all the time and I just recently picked one up and tried it by just cutting them up in squares and cooking them with my eggs and it’s so good but I definitely have to try them this way now! Thank you for the recipe I’ve been waiting for it 😆
Woke up craving this! So I'm here again getting a quick tutorial, yummy! Thanks Benji, love your food videos!
Loving all the food/grocery vlogs Benji! Glad you’re back!!!!
i still make this too! thanks for sharing again benji. havent made it in a while but went to a japanese market the other day (before u posted 😅) and i picked up a sweet potato for this purpose!!
I just made this last week! it honestly is one of my favorites!
I really have to try this, it looks so good. Thanks Benji 😊
Thank you!!! I just finished making shogayaki and plated it with the sweet potatoes. Will do the miso "butta" tomorrow morning!
It’s true. This was the first dish I tried and didn’t mess up in college. I love it so much I made it for my housemates in college with steak. Sometimes I make it in bunches and take it with me on the go for breakfast. It’s really good.
I’ve made this so many times and can’t wait to watch this full recipe
I LOVE Japanese sweet potatoes, they're my favourite, I had one tonight with salad💕
This is also one of the recipes I make the most out of all the recipes you’ve posted!
I love making sweet potatoes in the oven like how you make your Japanese sweet potatoes 🍠 . But I’ve always wanted to try the Japanese sweet potato, you always make my mouth water 😊when you make them for your family ♥️. Thank you for sharing your recipe!!!!! God bless you and your sweet family…..🍃💗🍃
Ive always drooled at this recipe you guys have created!! Have you ever tried purple (okinawan) sweet potato?
The first time I ate a roasted sweet potato was in Japan. An old guy selling on the street with his cart. After a few years, Ito Yokaido has a stall for roast sweet potatoes. It's delish! Now, I am in China, and I tried the same thing, they used a rotisserie machine to make it, and it's good but not the same as in Tokyo. I'll go home (Manila) for the winter break and try your recipe with less butter. 😉 I'll visit your pop up store in SM Aura.
How come you take out the inside of the green onions?

I went to the comments to get an answer too… why?
Hi Benji! I just tried your yakisoba recipe and it's so good! This one will be up next :)
A BenjimanTV classic! I bake my sweet potatoes in the airfryer now. i take out the ends for my dog (without the skin) and have the rest with misobutter for myself.
I love sweet potato recipies, I love love this one !! 😋 yummy!!!
Thank you so much Benji.
I love sweet potato thankyou Benji I will have to try the miso butter thankyou for sharing Benji 👍👍👍
I have been eating this regularly for YEARS because of you, Benji!
Awww Austin! I’d like to see him in your vlogs more often. He’s a cool special guest 😂
Wow, that’s a lot of butter. The animal fats in butter means it has higher levels of saturated and trans fats. These fats can lead to higher cholesterol, greater chance of heart disease, and lower levels of HDL cholesterol-the "good" cholesterol that unclogs arteries.

Everything in moderation. Don’t eat this everyday. It’s like a dessert. Buy ya. It was a bit much. Maybe just showing for the show. 🤷🏻♀️
Brah, that butter is 🔥 I steam the sweet potatoes and that butter on top is something else!!
Filo here and i agree, we asian usually just eat boiled kamote or sweet potato as is. But we also fry it with caramelized sugar, u can buy it on streets, perfect meryenda.
Need to try this! Looks bomb!
I just tried this benji and it was SO DELICIOUS. I sent all my siblings this video 😭
Austin Asian American as well? Very respectful of no shoes in the home.
my dogs favorite food! hahah we steam it instead of bake it for him and he always begs for it at the dining table.
It looks too good, I'm going to try it with my daughters.😀
I’ve waited for you to post this video for soooo long benji! I’ve wanted to try this
I love this recipe but my family loves the baked Japanese sweet potato with I can’t believe it’s not butter. It was also a pregnancy craving with my second child.
I was surprised to fine Japanese sweet potatoes at my local supermarket! So much better than regular sweet potato.
I'm planning to try this 🙂
Could u write the recipes in the description pls 😊
Kimchi and sweet potato!!!!!!!! Try it and you’ll love it!!!!!!
Does miso-butter go well with a standard sweet potato from American grocery stores??
Hey Benji, I wish your uploading off days isn’t the same as Judy’s 🙏 also this is so perfect because I’ve been thinking about japanese sweet potato since last week and I’m looking on Facebook marketplace who sells it lol (I’m in manila)
I just ate this, this morning!! Haha
Ahhh i just made this earlier today !!!!
benji! please make shabu shabu again. those were the best
I find that if you microwave the potatoes for 5-6 minutes before roasting them, you'll halve the roasting time 😊
Went from sweet potatoes to donuts…. Me at the grocery store 😂😂😂😂😂
Yum!
I love your bath robe. Chef coat. So cute. 🌸
Does Keira still have a crush on Austin? Can't blame her, he's such a good looker.
I make this one
Is the potato a common one in a typical grocery store?
Austin looks like benji with glasses lol
I cannot even buy Japanese sweet potatoes anywhere near me 😥😭
Yummmmm
Is Austin also Japanese and are Benji and Austin just good friends or really related? 🤔 The smashed Sweet Potato with lot of butter looks like the perfect dish for me. 🤤
Kamote yan, it's common in the Philippines. 😊
always eat the skin!!
What is the difference between a Japanese Sweet potato and a sweet potato I'm used to?
Is it 1 hour cooking time at 450F?

Yes
In Latin culture we have what looks like the same thing but call it boniato, is it the same thing ?
I think sweet potatoes are good, but there’s something about a Japanese sweet potato that is better. Not easy to come by in stores like a regular sweet potato though, unfortunately. Even here in B.C.
Gonna try it tomorrow got all the stuff! Why do u have to prick it american sweet potatoes you don't.

What is Miso? I ate Miso soup once and it tasted like dirt!
@dawalrus

Lol whattt? It’s fermented soybeans. It’s so salty so I can’t imagine it tasting like dirt. You don’t eat it by itself. It’s a seasoning. The most common dish is probably miso soup. So good and healthy!

Great recipe, great presentation. I found the children very distracting.

Maybe for future cooking vlogs Judy could take the girls upstairs so that we can hear Benji's instructions. On several occasions, I had to strain my ears to hear what he said, and even went to the extent of replaying the segment.
Tell me Benji, what does miso actually taste like? Fishy? Rooty? I ‘spose I COULD google it. Loved Austin’s Dick’s sweatshirt! But, #dontBEaDick 🩷from Seatown 🌊🌊
