Japanese Street Food Tour Top 10 in Kyoto Japan | Nishiki Market Food Guide
Top 10 Japanese Street Food Tour in Kyoto Japan. Food Guide in Nishiki Market and Gion Area, walking street food tour to my top 10 favorite street food spots. Nishiki Market is known as Kyoto’s kitchen and it’s been around for 400 years. And one of the main reasons why Nishiki Market opened up here in Kyoto is because this very spot run clean and cold groundwater which was used a refrigeration system by shop owners back in the day. Now there about 129 stores crammed in this narrow 400 meter market and it’s equally crowded with locals and tourists alike. Many Japan tourists and Japan travelers are looking for the best food market spots at Nishki and I cover some of the best shops We try the famous Tako Tamago which is an Octopus with a quail egg inside. We also try Tamagoyaki at Kai, which is a fluffy and elegant tasting Dashimaki Tamago made only with their High-end Kyoto eggs. Dashimaki Tamago is a type of Tamagoyaki but uses a Dashi soup and is usually not sweet. Also on the menu for this Kyoto Street Food tour are Oysters, Fishcakes, Grilled Fish, Cheese Tart, Fried Chicken Karaage, Black Ramen and Melon Pan Ice Cream.
This is Japan Food Travel Guide for Japan tourists and and Kyoto travelers. So many things to see and eat in Kyoto, but I wanted to give everyone a Kyoto Street food guide on Things to do in Kyoto and where to eat in Kyoto.
Nishiki Market (錦市場 Nishiki Ichiba) (literally "brocade market") is a marketplace in downtown Kyoto, located on a road one block north and parallel to Shijō Street (四条通 Shijō-dōri) and west of Teramachi Street (寺町通 Teramachi-dōri). Rich with history and tradition, the market is renowned as the place to obtain many of Kyoto's famous foods and goods.
Gion is Kyoto’s geisha district, with hostesses in colorful kimonos often sighted on the wooden Tatsumi Bridge, or amid upscale Japanese restaurants and boutiques on Hanamikoji Street.

I love it when you include sweets! I feel like I missed out, I was in Kyoto but I didn't know about this food market, I'm going there next time for sure :D and I think top 10 is good, it's better the more you get to show, because people like different stuff, and this way I'm pretty sure everyone finds something they like!

Sugary shotgun to the dome what a line! LOVE your videos Paolo and Maiko :)
Great video! Love the map and the time stamps so much that I’m saving it for future reference 😍
6:03 Absolutely correct. That oyster is suspiciously HUGE. lol
Oh man, this brings back memories. I LOVE the Nishiki market, the variety of food there is just staggering. Not a huge fan of the octopus with quail egg on a stick but ya just gotta try it when at the Nishiki Market. 😄
I love these videos and always look forward to them Friday night in the United States! I'd be curious about sushi quality with comparing Kyoto, Osaka and Tokyo and also service wise. I know its all good but I wonder if there are any small nuances that you could pick out. Also, rest your voice! We don't want you to go hoarse!
I loved it!!! Thanks for the amazing video!
Paolo’s videos are FANTASTIC!!!!
Great job Paolo and Maiko! Mouthwatering dishes. Love it! Can´t wait until next video. Take care!
If I had to move to anywhere in Japan, Kyoto would usually be my pick when asked. Because of this video with all the food I missed, it will always be my pick now. ❤
Great video! We always love seeing Maiko in the videos! :)
Great video Paolo! I love the intro. Sounds like a remixed version 50 cent's In da club. Keep up the great work!

Paulo, Your videos get me excited about my upcoming trip to Japan. I love the tips and it's helpful that you also include the prices, so I know how much to budget. It's awesome that you have a bilingual family, how fun! Thanks so much!
I Love Paolo's patterned jumpers.

Amazing content! Keep up the good work!👍
I look forward to every one of Paolo's video's! Great info and advice! Visited Nishiki Market just last month and if I could just add my two cents. Not sure when Paolo visited but when I went (I think it was early afternoon) it was brutally crowded. Wall to wall people and no matter where you walk you'll be bumping into people. I think small kids would freak out. Many items for sale are VERY touristy and on the pricier side so choose wisely. The one item that really blew me away was the match mochi. You think it'd have a strong matcha taste because it was covered in green powder but it was mellow and melt in your mouth. Crazy good and inexpensive! We also tried Wagyu on a stick, don't do it. Very expensive and definitely not melt in your mouth. Same goes for the $30 grapes. They're good but not $30 good.
really like the new sound effects :)
I just found this channel!!! OMG!!!! Love it...
I love that you show the location/map! Thank you for being so informative! 🇯🇵
thank you for making this video! it is a big help especially the sketch of the map!
I love how you just keep feeding us good content. :))
Love watching your videos during lunch break!! xD
Loved this video Paolo and Maiko! I would love to see how you rate the food out of 10! Overall, keep up the great work!!
I just subscribe, I like the culture in Japan, how children leave with their parents, and the way they move in groups. It makes them uniform. Your videos are informative and funny to watch. 😆
Appreciate the videos you make for us. Can't wait to try out the food spots when I visit Kyoto again!
The melon is the total winner! So agree with you both! We had the same expression while we were having the Melon Pan!
Paolo, your vids came up as a recommendation for me. I was in Kyoto for a few days 18 months ago and just scratched the surface. I did fall in with it, though! I’m going back in two months. I am taking copious from all your videos and can’t wait to explore my favorite city on the planet.
Great timing as I'm heading to Kyoto for 1 month in January
will go to eat number 2 again tomorrow!! love it to the max
Just a few more days ‘till I arrive in Japan. Can’t wait to try all your recommendation Paolo. Hope to bump into you somewhere :))

Love this channel!
Hey Paolo, Thanks once again for an awesome video. Watching your new upload has become my weekly ritual. My girlfriend and I are visiting Japan in March/April time and your videos are by far the most useful. You come across as a very genuine person and you and Meiko put a lot of work in to your videos. You said if there is any thing that could be improved, it could be nice to see both you and Meiko on the screen at the same time as you guys are awesome. Other than that nothing else to improve upon. You videos are incredibly informative and are fun to watch. :D

Yoooooo!!!! I love your energy in your videos!
Another great video Paolo!
Im going to Japan for the first time this October.. watching your videos makes me super excited! Nishin market is first on our list.. now im hungry after all the good food you showed
Yes Pablo John from only in Japan was there few years ago @ 1:56 yum!!!! I want try that still!!!!!! 😍
The scenery of Nishiki Market has also changed a little. As a local, I'd like to recommend Fuka. It's a fu shop, and their Taiyaki, made by baking soft Nama- fu. Fu is gluten cakes. Taitaki is so excellent. It's hard to tell, so come back again!
Going to Kyoto next week and thanks for these suggestions.
Nice video Paolo 👍
I had 5 of the items you recommended when I was in Kyoto last week, awesome recommendations and video!

Great vid, I gotta find Umeshin, I love kaarage chicken/anything... and I'll look for Kofukudo and try the matcha. I really enjoyed Nishiki Market on my visit this past summer. There is a cool Snoopy store there where I got all sorts of souvenirs for my cousin.
Great Video! Super informative. Keep it up (:
Thanks Paola for all the great videos , I will be arriving Tokyo in 2 days , will be visiting Kyoto too. Great information. Big thank you
日本人だけどPaoloさんとマイコさんの動画楽しみにしてます☺️笑 こないだ築地の動画で見た、黒いうに中華まん食べました!贅沢だった〜♡
