I always love it when I see a notification from Travel Thirsty. Because then I know that yet another great video can be watched. Excellent camera control, gorgeous pictures, great sound... and perhaps best of all... NOBODY talks! It's all about the preparation, dish processing and a little bit about the eating. So soothing to watch. Makes me calm and relaxed.

The De Beaufort's flathead (Cymbacephalus beauforti), sometimes referred to as the huge flathead or crocodilefish, is a species of marine ray-finned fish that is a member of the Platycephalidae family of flathead fish. The Western Pacific Ocean is home to it.

I really can't get enough of these videos. There is only one thing that would make them better for me and that would be if you were to place on the screen what some of the unrecognizable ingredients are. Like today, was that mayonnaise or sour cream or something different and please tell me that wasn't ketchup in that dish. There are a lot of ingredients you may not see outside of Japan, but I am very curious about. Thank-you for sharing, keep it up.

They are related to stonefish or rockfish and the fins have poisonous stings on them. However it is edible, as are the other two names fishes.

In Australia , we love them... a bit different but not by much. We call them a ‘Flathead’, ‘Flattie’ or a Lizzid
I'm not big on sushi, unless I've had quite a bit of sake or soju. And this would be something that I would definitely order after drinking.
The crocodile fish with the mushrooms was mouth-watering.

The fact that the Japanese can properly fabricate fish of all shapes and sizes is amazing. Truly fascinating to watch.

The De Beaufort's flathead (Cymbacephalus beauforti), sometimes referred to as the huge flathead or crocodilefish, is a species of marine ray-finned fish that is a member of the Platycephalidae family of flathead fish. The Western Pacific Ocean is home to it.

Should wear gloves to protect yr hands when preparing the fish. Fish-handler's disease occurs when cuts or scrapes in the skin become infected with the bacteria from handling fish or shellfish.
