It's Toy Talk Tuesday, and today we are covering Vinyl Toys, Designer Toys and Japanese Sofubi.
Weather it's vintage Bullmark and Marusan or modern day art Sofubi like Mutant Vinyl Hardcore, Unbox Industries, Choke Hazard and Retroband there is no dying that vinyl toys have a charm like no other.
I often get asked to feature Sofubi on an episode of Toy Talk, so in today's video I am not only going to be talking a little about the process of Sofubi and the art toy scene in general, But also showcasing a bit of my own collection as well as a brand new delivery all the way from the United States.
Enjoy
Featuring toys from
@unboxindustries @retroband @oltretomba.madeinhell @chokehazrd @lastresorttoys @sunguts @tokyotoybastard @marusan_kaminaga @scumpittoys @jgroman60 @elegab_jp @boda_1129 @planetxasia and more.

    Excellent video, I encourage you to plunge into sofubi collecting. I started collecting kaiju sofubi seriously somewhat recently and it's a rabbit hole that gets deeper and deeper as you look. I collect mainly for my love of monster art, so I lean toward vibrant or otherwise distinct color patterns on Godzilla and other miscellaneous monsters. The sculpting combined with the dope paint jobs make them an absolute pleasure to look at. Knowing that everything is hand assembled and painted is extremely satisfying to me. I'm less into historical value and more into aesthetic. For instance, I think Marusan's classics are cool, but the glitter and paint jobs on their more modern figures blow the old ones out of the water. If I had to choose a "Greatest Toy Line of All Time", I would choose Marmit's Monster Heaven. I think those two examples pretty accurately portray my collecting sense. I love the 90's sofubi renaissance aesthetic and I have since I was a kid. It feels like buying fine art while tickling those childhood nerves deep in my cranium. The slope is slippery but it's pretty chill once you're down here lol

Sometimes get the bug for either of the three- right now it's my sofubi. Marmits - marusan- bullmarks and even Large size 80s Bandai. The latest is the lottery medicom Kyoto battle version anraku ansaku Gamera with burning hand. So Awesome!!

    I discovered Sofubi back in 2008 while it was still (mostly) obscure to western collectors. It wasn't cheap, but given the boutique nature of many producers it was totally justifiable. Unfortunately there seems to be a certain "prestige" that has developed in the toy collector market for Sofubi. I could be wrong, but the inordinate sums regular people are willing to throw at this stuff makes one wonder... Still love Sofubi, but I struggle to enjoy it like I used to. Great overview.

    What sort of signature? Some autographs are relatively common, such as the suit actors and various movie cast members.The chances are extremely high that it's legitimate and you can possibly find record of the very signing event. Many production members signed their name on all sorts of items, probably thousands of times.
