Take the ratchet screwdriver concept and turn it into a powerless drill press. Put it inside an arbor press and make it drill as you press down and turn the crank.

I want to love this more, but I feel like there is a few minutes left to go in the video that got cut off. Cool idea to use the yarn and epoxy. Now put it back on the lathe and polish the epoxy clear so we can see all the colors. Make that thing an absolute show piece!

I think these are from the Spiralux brand and are UK made. I bought one last Sunday on a fleamarket and started researching it on google, funny how the YT decided to suggest this video for me. The all-seeing algorythm is a bit scary. In any case, bits for these damn things are near impossible to find (for a reasonable price). And mine came without any bits, I realised later that they are of a unique type. I have the even older type, with a wooden handle.
This is really perfect and awesome tool restoration video.
