Stanley Yankee Screwdriver Restoration
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I was given 2 Stanley Yankee ratchet screwdrivers .In this video I will do a quick and simple restoration of the 135A as a gift for a friend.
Included : A comparison of how different the two screwdrivers are built even though their functionality is identical.
I will keep the other one for a future project as it involves much more work.
Wax handle finish vs gloss varnish - which one do you prefer ?

Thank you so much for your kind comment 👍👩🔧
Wow. Just last week I gathered my Yankees together......Almost had enough to play the Red Socks......but almost only counts in horse shoes. I think I may venture over and grab the worst in the collection and try to clean it up. What a great video! tHanks for posting.......tHanks to the supervisor too!

Does that make you old then - hahaha 😆- They are so well made tools, just unfortunate that they redundant in our electric era. Thanks for watching mate. Much appreciated 🙏 👍👩🔧

@@LittleRestorers well old enough lol. Maybe your kids might remember playing with the one you have one day. No problems at all 👍
A fantastic restoration mate. Loved the shine on the steel components and the varnish on the handle was the jewel in the crown. Loved the kids saying hello at the beginning. I really enjoy your content.

Fantstic job, you've done. I own a lot of these Yankee Screwdrivers and others, but I don't dare to disassemble them. Best wishes from Germany

Yes, some models can be tricky to disassemble. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. Regards from Australia 👍
I like the varnish. Luckily that screwdriver has some really nice wood.

Thanks for watching. I like the look of the varnish but the natural of the wax 😁
Very nice restoration job. An improvement is to sand a flat on each side of the wooden handle to stop it rolling away.

Thanks mate. New area still under construction 😢
I have a couple that stay extended. They don't lock back into the shorter configuration. Is that an easy fix?

Hi thanks for watching. You will have to take it completely apart. That means taking out the handle to remove the wedge there too. I believe there is a little ball bearing that underneath the lock mechanisms and that can get crushed in and causing it to not function properly. Hope that helps 👍
I heard that you should never sand things like wooden handles on old tools like this

Thanks for watching. Unfortunately they did worse originally by painting those wood handles. Natural wood is much better 👍
It's dangerous to release the spiral like you did , especially with the bit in .
