m = 4√3 + 6 n = 4√3 - 6 You can find it easily from the identity (x+y)² - (x-y)² = 4xy
Why is this an Olympiad question?

Most likely a high school Olympiad, not the international one but the most common easy "Olympiad" made for 11th graders.
Alternate solution method: m=x+6 and n=x-6; (x+6)(x-6)-12=x^2-48; x^2=48; x=±4√3 m=x+6=6±4√3 and n=x-6=-6±4√3
I can't stand closed top number four (4). That always looks like a nine (9). Super sloppy.
👏👏
O its so hard i didn't solve it in 2 min max
This is like our 8th grade math lmao
m-n=12 mn=12 m=12+n (12+n)n=12 n²+12n-12=0 (n+6)²-48=0 (n+6)²=48 (n+6)²=48 n+6=±√48 n=-6±√48 n=-6+√48, n=-6-√48 # m=6+√48, m=6-√48 #
