There's great music from all corners of the globe you just got luckier in finding the Eastern stuff apparently... But seriously though like shoegaze/dream pop are genres that originated in the West, in the UK and Ireland... Check out My Bloody Valentine. They're one of the OG groups. Or Cocteau Twins.
