Japanese Articulation and Listening comprehension Part 3 ひたすら日本語ドリル 聴解と発音 その3 JPQ36

While solving problems, let's develop the ability to transcribe what you hear into text and read it out loud accurately, paying attention to long vowels, geminate consonants, semi-voiced consonants, and voiced consonants. These, along with pitch accent, are quite important points for foreigners to communicate effectively in Japanese. Through this series of videos, please find and uncover your weaknesses in Japanese pronunciation, and use this to help correct them.

Just wanted to thank you. I've been using videos in KZread to study Japanese for about 3 years and I have to say this is a type of video that is rarely represented. There are pitch accent lessons, but really very few that focus on articulation. Most that focus on articulation gets a bit too technical / theoretical or the exercise tend to be a bit too advanced to simply jump into immediately. Starting in a simpler way (like in these videos) is a great help. I hope you continue to make more of these videos.

Thank you so much for your comment! I'm glad you're enjoying the articulation series. I plan to continue with at least seven more similar exercises. Since pronunciation challenges can vary depending on one's native language, I'll incorporate these into each session little by little. Please look forward to it. Thank you for your support!

The New York one tripped me up... I'm still not sure about them cuz they all sound the same to me... Maybe it's just a manufacturing defect in me 😅😅

Recognizing the differences between glottal stops, long vowels, and geminate consonants might be challenging, but keep at it and you'll improve with practice. It's also important to get used to Japanese spoken by various people, but this woman's way of speaking might have been a bit challenging this time. がんばってくださいね!

I tutor Japanese to specific individuals on an irregular basis for a long time, although it is not my main occupation. But in my primary workplace I also frequently interact with people who are learning Japanese😊
