They are indeed respectable. As far as I know, Yu Yuan Tai is the rising star in China Sr Team now. Its great to see more people enjoying the sports now. At least I have more mutuals.❤️

Volleyball is still recognized there anyway, female team has beeing legendary for eras. So I don't think it would be hard for the dudes to thrive in popularity if they play well and get results.

China's defense is weak, but Japan's block is almost non-existent, and has too many mistakes in both attacking and serving. Amazing to see that the Chinese players are as tall as those from the dominant western teams.

Honestly tired of everyone saying Japan needed Nishida. Sure he is a good player, but the whole japanese team not only should, but also has to be able to win without him. It's not like they lost this tournament, and I doubt they'd win gold with him on the team. The team is filled with talent, technique and amazing skills, not just Nishida, which still have lots to learn. He hasn't performed well in the Italian league either

If you notice, China #6 has similar or maybe more vertical than Nishida.

obviously, Yaochen (setter) has a great connection with his spikers and middle blockers . compare to liu . i noticed in the set 3 when yaochen replaced liu they cannot able to have a good plays and attacks . meanwhile in japan team, Takanashi is better than takahashi

2021 Japan is not so good but 22-23 Japan really improved a lot!!! This 23 Japan is really powerful! China is great as well since 22 they won a set straight match against Brazil! I love these 2 team

yanagida has been dropped from the team in favor of younger players like ran and otsuka. fukuzawa is old, he’s retired.

Always wondered why Chinese men’s volleyball isn’t as popular as their women’s…

everyone is bemoaning the absence of nishida but miyaura did a very good job. it’s also that this is a very improved china team. i have never heard of li yongzhen but he’s so good at his age. hope he continues to improve.

For sure. The right side is doing fine here. What's sucking is the left sides shanking balls and not scoring enough. Ran had to be subbed out. He was useless.

I don't think so. If you watch a lot of match for japan, their strategy are ishikawa mostly put himself on the back because he's good at taking?(I don't know what's it call in vb term) the ball. #not good in English

Can someone clarify something for me? I used to mainly watch women's volleyball. I don't fully understand the dynamics of men's volleyball I felt like many Japanese players seem to thrive within the Japanese team proportionally better, with good passes, accurate and fast setting, good covering and multiple attackers coordination. But those requires a group of players to be playing and training together for a long time to achieve. When Japanese players goes to European leagues and had to play with new teammates who they do not share a long time training and playing together, they no longer get the benefit of good coordinations between teammates through long time training and playing together, and are forced to compete more on heights and strength. I only know some examples from women's volleyball: asian players like Kim Yeon Koung or Zhu Ting. They are perfect combination of height, strength and smart. Their performance in their national team seem to translate very well when they both played in turkish leagues. But Japanese players like Kimura Saori, a totally skilled top hitter when she played in Japanese team, didn't seem to do well at all when she played in Turkish league.. She has the smart that Kim and Zhu have, but she did not have the height and strength. Is this why Japanese player's skills always seem like it "dropped" quite a bit when they venture out of the home team? Thanks for any response
