Welcome back friends!
So this video is a bit quieter. I realized I didn't do a lot of talking but this was my experience. I didn't have a "wild" time, I was soaking it all in. Being half Japanese, this was my first time in Japan and it felt very personal. I observed. People watched. Listened carefully to the sounds around me. 5 years ago I couldn't imagine coming here without feeling a little anger that I was robbed of this experience growing up. But now that I am older, I see things in a new perspective. I gave forgiveness and let myself be vulnerable on this trip. I didn't go into detail in this video but I have very strong feelings about my identity and I finally felt connected to the other parts of me that were neglected. For the first time in my life, I would give my name at a restaurant for reservations and no one laughed, no one asked where I was from, and no one asked how to spell it. I just felt accepted and like I belonged to a community where my name was common. My best friend was there for me through all these new experiences and it was so heart warming to watch her experience this trip as well. She looked so happy and there's no one else that I would want to experience this with than her. This is our girlhood!
I hope you enjoyed this video. I will work on being a little more vocal and not repetitive because the amount of times I said "little" in this video LOL
