Japan is running out of royal heirs

Subscribe to our KZread channel for free here: sc.mp/subscribe-youtube
Japan does not allow women to ascend the throne. Now down to two princes, the imperial family is running out of male heirs. Proposals to allow female heirs were floated in 2005 but were met with resistance. Now, Japan’s public says they are ready for the succession rules to change and many embrace the possibility of an empress.

After WWII, the line of succession removed all the cadet branches. This meant only descendants of Emperor Taisho would be eligible to become emperor. One option that was floated before the birth of Hisahito was to "adopt" the next male in line of succession if the cadet branches were not removed. This is quite difficult too, since the many cadet branches also have become extinct in the 70+ years of them being "commoners".

The Japanese government is currently also discussing for the restoration of the former cadet branches of the imperial family. But I hope they will also restore the aristocrat families from Japanese clans under the system of peerage nobility. This means Japan also needs to revise a new constitution which more resemble the Meiji Constitution and revoke the 1947 constitution.

Harems were not allowed since they have lost in World War 2. 2. Princesses lose their status when they marry commoners. 3. They don't carry any money around. 4. It’s not that. It’s because it’s impractical to raise kids in Japan because daycare costs too much and jobs pay too little

Loki High Only because it continually supports Japan’s current sexist outlook between men and women. Before WWII, females were part of the line for succession. They only took out that rule because back then many fought for the throne and there were many so it’s complicated. The Americans wanted to limit the Imperial family only so another world war may not happen by Japan. That rule shouldn’t apply this time seeing how there is only one kid in the next line of succession. Japan seriously f*cked up in gender treatment. Both sexes there are too awkward to each other. They legit have to start breeding fast if they don’t want more immigrants. Their population is predicted to decline real fast within only 20 years
