Japan met with a bit of trouble at a crucial time in the race at Epsom or I think he would've likely won the Derby too. If he'd gotten the same kind of wide open, up the rail run that stablemate Anthony Van Dyke got I know he would've, because even forced to make his run wide because of his track position, he was still closing faster than anything else in the field like a shot on Anthony Van Dyke and Madhmoon, and narrowly missed getting them both. And I think you'd have to say his Epsom form held up as being legit, because after the Derby he went to Royal-Ascot and won the G2 King Edward VII Stakes at his own leisure, in basically a cantor. He then won here in the G1 Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp before dropping down in trip from 12F to 10-1/2F to defeat a tough, battled hardened Crystal Ocean at York to win the G1 Juddmonte International Stakes.

Another Group 1 winner for Galileo.

That wasn't a King George & Queen Elizabeth winning performance . Japan will need to up it a notch or two if he is to get the better of Enable and co. at Ascot.

Japan was listed at around 6/1 for the king George in all major bookmarking firms . Aidan probably thinks that given his average performance in Paris that it isn't wise to take on Crystal Ocean and Enable at this point in time .

Yes he won the king George and was 6.1 that day beating Crystal ocean who was rated best in World I am on Japan today against ghayith

Obviously a very good horse, and a fine ride by Ryan Moore. I think he didn't use the whip at all, and the horse is supposedly "lazy", so the form may be better than it appears. However, my main question after the race is about the official time: 2m 27.07s (faster than standard by 3.43s). That is very fast, and yet they said the pace was moderate, and the going was good to soft. It doesn't make sense, does it? Maybe Japan will be Ballydoyle/Coolmore's main challenger for the Arc, but they also have Anthony Van Dyck, Sir Dragonet, Sovereign, Magical, and maybe others. In the shorter distances they seem likely to dominate with Ten Sovereigns, Circus Maximus, Magna Grecia, Hermosa, etc. And Arizona looks like a champion two-year-old.

Deano Carden wasn't holding on at the end was always winning I've watched it 3 times now perfect ride for a change from moore, ten sovereigns as well at the weekend let me down big time at Ascot then romps the July cup, crazy game sometimes, I believe obrien was running his horses to try and let Joseph get a few more group ones at the curragh the other week ( pink dogwood, southern France )

Not a dominant performance, but a solid one; more or less in hand.

The 2nd has ran a blinder.

Good ride for ryan moore. Running 2000 meters would be better for Japan.

If 2nd jumped he would have won

Don't really understand how people have admiration/respect for this operation after Sovereign stitch up. Let me tell you, there were bets placed up and down the country at all rates from 100/1 down to 66/1 and duly landed the money.

I know for a fact that some races are bent.Sellers,low grade handicaps. Not group races.Derby winners are alot more valuable especially to Coolmore for breeding purposes in the millions.Rather someone in Tipperary having a few quid on a 66-1 shot.

@jeff griffin Here it is.... There're a message on William Hill shops's system with a photo of a guy going round having £600 Sovereign 66/1 and £200 50/1 a horse running at Newcastle Northumberland plate...... What do you make of that?
