Ойын-сауық

Japan NHK interviews a bunch of people to figure out why exactly 'Your Name' was so popular amongst an older audience. Kimi No Na Wa was originally targeted towards teens and people in their 20's, but somehow it was able to catch the hearts of millions of people all over the world across all ages. Unchainedmaple888 by J. J. Abrams, because Star Wars wasnt enough. Haha, I kid... I'm that rare minority who thinks Star Wars is basically where it was. I enjoyed Last Jedi, but I fear some of the choices made in that film may hurt it later on (the fact that some were supposedly due to studio rewrites, which doesn't surprise me). And honestly, given how studios work, only so much could be blamed on him.

    The last two sequences affected me the most---from when Taki heard Mitsuha's friends talking in the cafe up until the end. I cry every. single. time i watch that scene, and now that I've thought about it, I think it's because we're all looking for something, even if we don't know who or what it is. We feel a connection to the characters when they finally find each other, cheering them on because we know how it feels to look for something and there is pride in knowing they found theirs.

    This movie moved me because, thinking about the Tohoko earthquake allusions n such, it also reminded me just how fragile our relationships to our loved ones are, how at any time we can experience loss and devastation and yet, we can still tell their stories, we have a duty to tell their stories and we can reconnect with lost ones in that way, and that it is important that we make good memories with the people we love while we still have time. For me, this movie helped me walk me through my own loss, turning the questions of "If only I had done this/that, if only I could say just one last thing" into "I need to tell their stories, keep our good memories alive in me, and make the best memories and connections my loved ones while I still can."

  • @Sunikkaazu23

    For me, I think the movie elicits more than just sadness or happiness but also anger and desperation. When the pen dropped, I literally gripped the seat out of some sort of anger or awe, or whatever it may have been when I first saw it. And when they see each other on the mountain and Taki just smiles just moment before that, that moment made my eyes water, but like everyone else probably, I started crying the most when she opened up her hand after falling. I've rewatched the film about more than 10 times now from seeing it in theaters multiple times with different people, to finally getting the bluray and showing it to as many people as possible while rewatching it with others. I find myself crying mostly to all the same spots in the movie almost everytime I rewatch it, and depending on who I watch it with of course. But as I continue to watch the movie, since it's one of the best movies I've seen in recent time along with one of the few movies to get an emotional reaction from me, next to Bladerunner2049, I continue to notice news things as I rewatch it, little mentions and foreshadowing that make me feel strong emotions as well, but maybe not to the level of crying though. I only recently started having my eyes water at the ending though, but that only started recently for me, so I don't know why. But yeah, the movie constantly continues to make me feel strong emotions, mostly in the same spots like I mentioned, but in lots of new spots everytime I rewatch it though.

    Three scenes specially : The one where Taki gets the connection for the last time,sees the past of Mitsuha. Then the one where the twilight merges 2013 with 2016 and they meet,for once when they are of the same age. Lastly,when they find each other again on 2021 and all the way to the ending.Knowing Shinkai,this ending,though not fully satisfying,is still perfect.'Your Name' ends with "Your Name is...?" with the melodious Radwimps on the background. There are many others,but these sum it up to make it an almost perfect masterpiece.

    The moment that really stood out to me was when mitsuhai noticed taki wrote “I love you” on her hand. Having reassurance from your loved ones always gives you so much confidence to do what you have to do. It’s love , but the main question I have is actually the idea of soul mates. I think it’s fantasy, there are so many things in life that can happen people have different personalities, different experiences, different locations, so I don’t think there’s only one person you were dates to be with, because who’s to say , that you were destined to be with a person but u made a mistake and choose a different path and ended up with another person. Soul mates is a cool concept to believe in, but it’s not realistic

    The thing that hit me the hardest were all the fake-outs with the comet fragment either hitting Mishima or not hitting her. I felt as though the optimist and the pessimist in me were being torn from each-other, while the rational part of me didn't get a look in. I truly felt as though it could go either way, right up until the time the headlines change and Mishima is seen again after the time skip. Very few movies can get me to second guess myself, let alone multiple times, and I was constantly hooked.

    The writing was amazing, but the thing that wanted to make make cry was not themes at all, it was the audiovisual experience, every shot is so excelently done and the music was so great it is so beautiful, one of the best looking films i've seen in my life

    uhm the writing was incosistent, I don't see how that can be that good(high level)..don't misunderstand it is a good movie but not that good.. at least for me.. For the visuals you can find better visuals out there a lot of them..watch a lot of different anime movies and series and you'll discover something new..the contrasts, light and shade in this movie died

    the movie is in 3 parts, the first part was amazing and fun and made you fall in love with the characters, the second part was good, they saved their town, the third part is just like all his movies... they don't end up together and all the magic they shared was completely forgotten and they grew up as just regular people without ever having gone thru all that magic.. I could watch the first part over and over again, but I could never watch that third more than once.. its too depressing and defeating

    I saw it this week for the first time and I really liked it. It's true it has it's flaws and it feels rushed in some parts where the story feels like it wants to do more but it changes to another topic. But besides that I really liked it, it is not my favorite movie of all time (that's Totoro) but I now know why many people praised it so much. It deserves it.

I'm not trying to act like a emo or anything. it's just... i don't have those experiences so i don't judge if some people found this movie very relatable which is not in my case

    Silent Voice's manga way more good rather than adaptation movie...

  • @AlfredKamon

    @AlfredKamon

    Not to mention that the execution of Silent Voice is pretty poor and psychologically incorrect (coming from a psychologist)... It's very different from the manga, where the psychology of each character is explored more in detail and the ending is more detailed and actually makes sense... (very few of the characters in the movie were developed aside from the male protagonist. It's sad because the original plot was about "self-acceptance" and yet almost no one has come to accept themselves by the end of the movie). Unfortunately it was pretty clear that the film director didn't have as much experience as the mangaka when it came to these kinds of topics.

  • @BrokenTooth

    @BrokenTooth

    @@AlfredKamon the director did her best trying to incorporate the whole manga into a 2 hour movie. When I finished watching the movie, some things felt blatantly incomplete, like the scene where the main character becomes more desperate to be happy around the girl and her sister, was cut off kinda abruptly. I think the movie was supposed to be open ended, and maybe that works in a way where you just provoke an emotion and leave it like that, without tying the ends. The manga felt more complete, because it is. The director must've decided to do the movie in that open-ended fashion rather than cutting certain parts of the story to fit it into the 2 hour mark. It was a good decision as far as I can see, but it could've also been done better, because there have been some compromises with the pacing of the movie. But overall, I think kyoani missed the chance of translating a silent voice into an anime series instead of a movie. that way, it could've been more wholesome and complete.

    Tokyosaurus can you make an observation about anime relationship with Japan's tv shows/movies industry? I used to watch the famous tv series based on manga etc back in 2000s and 90s but I rarely see them now. I just wonder if anime prosper renders the live action to be more or less obsolete. Jdrama used to be famous and refreshing but now Kdrama (Korean drama) and others leave them in the dust.

    I think an enormous part of the connectivity is due to the soundtrack. Radwimps created a soundtrack that I believe is equally as incredible as the movie it plays during. Its nuanced yet repetitious nature from song to song seems to remind us of the past scenes in the movie and create a sense nostalgia for events and feeling that have only just happened to us in the span of a few scenes. I've never actively listened to a soundtrack before But I'm certain that I've spent more time listening to radwimps score than I have watching the movie at this point.

    I love Your Name because of the visuals. I’m always a sucker for a movie that has great details in scenery. It’s also the thing about “fate” or “destiny” which always intrigues me cuz I’ve got a bit of a philosophical side to me. You don’t always need a great story to like something. I think that I’m gonna get more feels from “I want to eat your pancreas” which I think will be the next hard hitter in box office
