I can't find the link, but if you search for "JR Yamanote mp3" you will be able to download a zip file of about 20-30 of these tunes. I did this and use them as ringtones. The quality is also higher than in this video... If I can find them, I'll post the link. :)

These tones generally intend to relax or alert people, depending on the situation. It’s tricky to alert people and not sound ignorable or the intent misinterpreted. Japan nails this. We need national railways to be the norm here in the US.

The Tokyo Station sound was the first sound I heard after leaving the Narita express on Shibuya Station during my first day ever in Japan. After hearing these sounds so many times on youtube before going to Japan, there and then I was thinking to myself: Finally, this is for real! After all these years, I'm finally here!

1:22 uguisidani station. That was the station I caught when I stayed at a unit in uguisidani through Airbnb. Beautiful little suburb close to everything. But Shibuya and Akihabara were my favourite stations/suburbs. Sigh. But I live in crappy Brisbane where our trains are super old and slow, and travel at a snails pace compared to Japan. And nothing is decorated or sounds as beautifully as in Japan. QQ. But thank you for sharing. This was great nostalgia. XD
