Fun fact: These are only a part of trains in Tokyo. Tokyo has 19 railroad companies and 84 lines, of which only two (Tokyo Metro and Toei Subway) operate subways. Therefore, it's weird that tourists call to the other railroads (JR East, Tokyu, Keikyu, Odakyu, Keio, Keisei, Tobu, Seibu, and so on) as "subway".
@trollface5084

I think the main reason why people call suburban railways an "metro" because they work like metro
@wasmic5z
Some of the other lines are pretty much subways, too. E.g., the TWR Rinkai Line operates as if it's a subway line. The Keihin-Tohoku Line, the Chuo-Sobu Line, the Chuo Rapid Line and especially the Yamanote Line also have fast and frequent service, like many subways around the world - even though they're all above ground. Most of the London Underground is above ground. And the NYC Subway has significant portions of elevated track, but the elevated lines are still called subway. So for many people, "subway" just means "rapid transit", regardless of whether it's above or below ground.
@double-face-hiromi
There are many routes in Tokyo, so I use a route map only for "subway", a route map only for "JR", and a route map only for "private railways". That's why people in Tokyo refer to subway companies as subways to distinguish them from the high-speed trains that run above ground.

@einzelganger09

Beautiful video, definitely worth the wait!
This video is amazing!! Your animation skills are really top notch in this genre of metro evolution! The use of borders around text, stations, and lines is genius and aesthetically pleasing, and the gradients on station interchanges just looks so good! You and Metroliner are my favorite metro evolution creators!
The fact that you can change to five different lines at Ōtemachi station is really amazing, but some of the line’s platform is really far away like Mita line to Marunouchi line, so it’s better to check the walking distance before transfer the train.

Amazing video!
The one thing that this and basically all other history videos of Tokyo miss are the thru-running services. This is what really sets the Tokyo system apart. Still, great video
Excellent work.
what an amazing video!

You've reached an impressive level of sophistication!
(DeepL translation) I am Japanese living in Tokyo. These lines are almost always connected to each other by connecting lines. These connecting lines are mainly used by trains that are sent around for periodic inspections.

Imagine adding JR and other private railways on the map
Although it was the first subway built in Japan, it was unable to save the victims of the massive air raid in the early hours of March 10, 1945. It was shallow from the ground. On the way, it had been damaged in an air raid the previous day. Not a single person was saved on the subway, and the population of the area around both Inaricho-mae and Tawaramachi stations dropped to zero.

Hi! Your work is amazing! I am writing about Hungary, about Budapest. There are four lines in the city, all four are special. The M1 metro is the first metro in continental Europe to run as a bark railway and is more like a tram than a metro, but special vehicles run there. The stations are beautiful and nostalgic, as they are more than a hundred years old. The M2 metro was the first real line with deep driving. The line is also referred to as the Red Metro or East-West service. The flight is 50 years old, built using Russian technology, but ten years ago the megallos and wagons were also renovated, already the trains of the French Alstom carry passengers. Metro line M3 is not only the capital, but also the busiest public transport in the country. Up to 500 thousand people visit it every day, which is pretty rough for a city of one million people. The subway is marked blue and connects the north and south points of Budapest by touching downtown. The metro is 16km long and has 20 stops, which is twice as many as any of the other lines. In 2017, due to poor condition, renovation began. It will now be completed in early 2023, which is a western European modern Metro line M4 open in 2014. This metro is the "ultra" modern in this city. The pilots are robot, and the stations is very good. M1, M2, and M3 meet on the city center, Deák Ferenc tér. M2 and M4 meet at the central railway station, (Bp. Keleti). M3 and M4 meet Kálvin tér station, but M1 and M4 doesn't meeting. Are you planning to make a video for the Budapest metro?
Impressive how it went from 4 lines / 60 km in 1964 to 8 lines / 163 km ten years later! Almost 300 km of subway have been built over half a century (1958-2008)!
I know you post IRL railway evolutions… but can you make a video where you explain the evaluation of virtual railways? For example : Stepford County Railway, the Sodor Railway, etc, etc ? 😊
I live in Tokyo and still do not know all the subways. I am amazed that there are so many subway lines alone.
