    Thankyou Sir, I accidentally purchased 2 Ruger Redhawk .44 Alaskan’s with a custom Craft shoulder rigg between Jan and Mar ‘24. I loved the quality and feel of the first Redhawk I held. I must stop looking in the cases!

    You can never go wrong with a Ruger, especially their classic revolvers. Redhawk, Blackhawk, GP100, Security Six, and the list goes on. I really like that holster.

    the reason for the forward cant on a hip holster is actually security, if the gun is canted forward it forms > that shape pointing forward and doesnt hook things backward or catch things forward or as you sit down… if the pistol is pointed straight down or a bit forward the handle is horizontal or hooked down and will catch and grab stuff and wont conceal well or carry nicely especially sitting down etc

    Hey man! That’s too cool. I bought a 4” Redhawk 44 mag couple years ago after I gave my brother my 6”. Haven’t got any footage of it yet, so that video will be some time off. It’s been our huckleberry picking pistol (here in the middle of grizzlyland). Considered a 454, but figured this with the Buffalo Bores would give me a 1/1,000,000th chance of a follow up shot. Thanks for sharing yours!

    You may have changed my mind with that Redhawk. I had been wanting a Smith & Wesson 586 .357 Magnum in a 4 Inch barrel. But considering what you said about Ruger handling Buffalo Bore rounds (And I too had read that S&W revolvers should steer clear of +P+ rounds), I think I'm going for a Ruger Redhawk in .44 Magnum as my anti-bear artillery. Wish you the best of service with yours. And I also hope you teach them laughing deer some proper respect too!

  • @plowboysghost

    @plowboysghost

    2 жыл бұрын

    I'm not up to date in the 586, so I can't help with that model. If you want a carryable double action .44 Magnum that'll eat any of the available heavy loads, you're probably going to end up arriving at the conclusion I did. I didn't want the shorter SRH Alaskan because of the shorter barrel. I want a little more velocity and a sight radius a bit more generous. I aim to take one of those smartarse deer for a pickup truck ride.

    I think you got a deal with that Redhawk. An acquaintance of mine wanted a Redhawk so badly back around 2019 that when he could not find one with the longer barrel, he "compromised" and bought one that was identical to yours by the time he got finished replacing the front sight and grips. Where he messed up was when he decided to handload some mighty stiff "O'Connor type loads" for it. That beast, with those loads, produced a ball of flame out of the muzzle that would put one in mind of something you might see out of a 16in naval gun of WWII battleship fame. I strongly suspect that ONLY a Ruger could have taken those loads and stayed in one shootable piece for very long. Thankfully that gent saw the error of his ways after about twenty rounds and scaled his handloads down a mite resulting in a much less "distracting" muzzle flash and probably half the seen and felt recoil. A few months later he took two eatin' size deer and four large "swamp hogs" with his Redhawk all with single shots. To the best of my knowledge, he still has that revolver and may still be hunting with it. Take care and I'll be looking forward to more of your great videos!

I’m thinking of converting my 1873 Pietta to old style. I broke the main spring and the bolt needed to be replaced. As I took it apart and looking up the parts, I seen some parts I think will convert it to old style. It seems simple enough. I just thought I’d ask. Good video I enjoy watching them. I have killed deer with .308 in the past, and I know it to be a very effective round, so ..... I broke down and bought me one of those Diamond D Holsters same color as yours but it isn't the chest rig. I got for my new S&W 629-6 5" barrel, i think i still may have couple 2-3 more weeks to wait until it arrives. How long did you end up waiting.. Hey brother great video, thanks for sharing!

    Completely agree on the "if you find it and want it, buy it". Dont feel bad, I paid $1700 for the same gun in 45 colt/acp with moon clips.. and it came with beautiful red scallopped grips with the ruger logo but I had to go to the Hogue as well. Love it!

    Naw, no problem at all. That Bisley hammer and I just don't seem to get along comfortably. That's the ONLY reason I don't still have that 4-5/8" SBH Bisley in .480 Ruger, anymore.

    I didn't. I only went a couple more times and was too picky about the size of the deer. I figured on the last day I'd take what I could get, and then something came up that kept me from getting to go the last day.
