Sinner has FINALLY made the improvements he needed. He always had the shots, but he lacked the game and variety. He now has it at last, so I think he can really win his first major in this tournament.

I'd say his biggest weakness was his stamina, you could see him losing explosiveness throughout the match. He has clearly worked on it though and he'll only get better.

However, not enough to beat Djokovic. Novak is too good at facing this kind of player, who strikes fast and got decent racket-head speed.I mean he learned from the best which is Roger Federer, who used to be the best of this style. Sinner has to be pin-point accurate, and I mean he has to make those shot 2/3 times,to hit it hard and deep to force error from Novak. However,it’s almost impossible to enforce it effectively.

For Sinner to have a chance this Friday, his shots and serve need to be way cleaner than today. Djokovic will not be as merciful as Rublev when it comes to punishing sub optimal serves or catching break chances
Rublev was hitting some blasts, and Jannik said "thanks I'll have another." SINNsational

yes, but that dumbass was hitting all the balls to the midline and Sinner didnt have to move his toe to reach.
Jannik is the ultimate power baseliner. He's got great shot tolerance and fantastic linear power. Unless you're Djokovic, trying to duke it out against Jannik from the baseline usually isnt gonna end very well.
I think we can mostly agree the walk of champions will have a new name
I have always been believing that Sinner could be the most challenging from the younger generation and he’s finally about to deliver it. Getting to the semi without dropping a set is real impressive, Final match should be very interesting if he made it all the way there. Rublev played a very good match, Sinner’s just on another level. keep your head high Rublev.

I just can't with these people that tend to forget Alcaraz on purpose. The only young player who has beaten djokovic in a match that actually mattered, a slam final. And he has also won 2 slams in such a young age Don't get me wrong Sinner is also a great player, but not better than Alcaraz (and I don't think he will be in the future, because the level of Alcaraz may be reachable, but his mentality not that much, not from Sinner at least).

@@antoinev9733 have a look at the slams' results, it might help you more. He stated that sinner is about to be the most challenging player from the younger generation (which includes Alcaraz), so he started the comparison. And I am just stating the facts, I don't understand what is going on with everyone that is answering. Is it not true that Alcaraz has won slams while Sinner not, which makes him a better player? Is in not true that Alcaraz has a winning mentality while Sinner hasn't? These are all facts. And if you don't want other people to spit facts then don't come up with this nonsense. "Most challenging player from the younger generation" my @ss, and that is because of Carlitos, deal with it. (If Alcaraz didn't exist then I would agree with this statement of course) Ps: about the h2h you mentioned, one Sinner win was when Alcaraz didn't know how to play in grass courts (he would get smoked by Carlitos in last year's Wimbledon), another was when Alcaraz got injured in Miami. Alcaraz wins have been all clear, either him dominating Sinner (like in Indian Wells) or him demonstrating the differences in their respective mentalities (like in the US Open). Oh and the other win was in a ATP 250 tournament. All nonsense *His win in China was the only one really worth it, but then again Sinner was in insane form while Alcaraz in his worse form 😃
Tengo la sensación de que este de Australia podría ser el trofeo de Sinner.
I think he only played well in the most difficult moments, like the tie breaker, but I expected more from him. Rublev is tough but Djokovic is way tougher, he needs to plat better than this if he wants to win. Maybe that abdominal problem didn't help too. Nonetheless I'm happy he won again

Actually a very smart move by Sinner: as neither player found the angle to go for a winner, he played two or three shots towards the middle of the court. Rublev took the bait and finally gave him the angle he needed with his forehand. Clever.
Bravo Jannik 👍👍
This is the way that players should go, like this Italian guy, he goes to the pitch, says hello & then he goes to do what he has to do. Simple, he misses a point it does not go looking everywhere & blaming everyone or everything, having a mental orgasm in between, not a sound from his mouth. Not looking the Mob to please the Mob, he has blinkers in his eyes & ears plugs in his ears (figurative speech), so he doesn’t pay attention to the silly people, the envy, the bully, the joker, the heckler etc. His mind is to win & get the cheque. His main thing is to do the main thing of the main thing. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

This is the perfect description of how i see him as well . And i have been skeptical in the past about his physical strength and long-term durability in tough matches . And having listened to his interviews for the italian press during this tournment also gave back the feeling that he is really enjoying a lot himself and his beloved sport . he is a happy guy, and sure he will have pressure, but he handles with it in a different way from the others as you correctly pointed out .

Sinner will prevail this time. He wants it too. He isnt erratic and patient through the exchanges. Novak playing incredible but this version of Sinner looks good. Sinner will put the match to Novak. Possibly in 3 sets. In every way that usually happens Novak may not have the luxuary of waiting for this opponents game & strategy to fall apart. Going to be a great match and an exhibition of different level tennis

Rublev just smashes the ball, he has the one mode hyper aggressive from the baseline, he played decently, both struggled to convert break points, but its clear that Sinner is the better player. It's a bit early to say that. But overall it would be great if Sinner could win the whole thing.
Think his nickname should be "The Hammer"!....
🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
Saw him live at last year's Wimbledon and I thought then that this guy's something special, his shots up close is just incredible and I do think that you're looking at the next Australian Open champion with all due respect to Novak!😂
Two things de Minaur wasn't doing the other night, that Sinner was doing. 1. Exploiting Rublev's forehand, especially on the stretch (de Minaur failed to exploit the uncharacteristic errors Rublev was making on his forehand) and 2. Serving down the T more often. When de Minaur did do those things (although, not often), invariably he'd win the point.
Is it true that he's got some sort of injury? If true, it's concerning for his SF match-up against Novak.

i think he just had a regular stitch guys its not that deep
Ruvleb must have some sort of block everytime he plays someone better, he always make stupid errors on BP, sinner wasnt doing anything special he would put in the centre of the court and rublev would either net it or hit it wide
Hope he hasn't injured his abs too much. He was stretching them and touching them like he'd pulled something a few times during the match.
The new gen is good but still unable to beat Novak is what frustrates me. Its high time that the new gen with age and energy on their side should start beating Novak straight sets. But Novak just doesn't give up. New gen needs to take their game a few notches and not settle where they are

You can't be hitting such a good serve and then turn the point into a neutral rally because you barely put anything on your shot and not enough to the other side of the court. If Rublev went for more there and to the other side of the court he probably goes 6-2 up.
I am afraid Djokovic stands no chance against Sinnerer. Not this time, not ever again. This guy is IMPOSSIBLE TO BEAT. And he's a lanky carrot looking guy. Pity for Rublev, that he has to compete against unbeatable players like Alcatraz and Sinnererererer. 😕
