For some reason every instance of Jane doing the backup dances for everyone elses songs with the same expression scratches an itch in my brain I didn't know I had. That one section of Talia and the choreo at the end Noel's Lament especially.

I might be reaching here but i’m really sad at the idea that Jane is freaked out by the lions just moving on from the murder of their kids when she is the only non-identified kid who died, like does she worry that her family didn’t care enough to report her missing? To check her body for any sign? To bother giving her a funeral or reuniting her with her head? Is she projecting her own fears onto the animal kingdom or was it just a random fact that freaked her out?

(Spoilers) Penny Lamb is actually the protagonist from another play Legoland. Legoland explains that her and her brother were raised in a hippie commune before their parents were arrested for possession and distribution of marijuana, so the two children transferred to Uranium City. It’s theorized that Ride the Cyclone takes place shortly after Penny Lamb came to the school and joined the choir, which why none of the other kids or teachers knew her. So it wasn’t necessarily that her parents didn’t care about her enough to look for her when she died, it was that they literally had no way of knowing what happened to her and couldn’t because they were IN JAIL. But I’m sure with no memory, Jane Doe probably assumed that her family was capable of doing so and simply didn’t :(((

I love how her movements are so rigged and choppy because she’s trying to balance her head and I absolutely love the detail that she bobbles her her when she walks because it’s her dolls head so it likely isn’t attached well to say the least but it’s just the little detail that are added to the character that make me love it more.

Did I just figure out that the head she has throughout the musical is the doll’s head? Yes.

Yeah that is a thing I've been thinking about. Surely they'd have records of all the kids in the choir. They were able to get in contact with the parents of the other five after all. But nobody came for her, so clearly they hadn't been able to contact anyone related to her.

Guys breaking news, I just realized no parents ever showed up to identify Jane (Penny Lamb) because during the events of Legoland the musical, Penny Lambs parents were sent to PRISON for growing pot on a hippy commune. They couldn’t have come to identify her. The only person who would’ve realized she was gone would’ve been Ezra lamb, her little brother.

Istg she’s like a highly educated toddler, I love how most of her movements are almost robotic-like

I think it’s probably for the same reason she doesn’t remember who she is. nobody irl could recognize her or remember her, and in the rtc universe, ig that means that in the afterlife she loses her identity. kinda reminds me of coco, and the way that souls faded or smth if nobody kept their picture around. they probs remember there being an extra member, just can’t recall what she looks like or anything she might’ve said. there’s also the fact that karnak never read her fortune, so he can’t conjure her up.

I took it more literal, that she had JUST joined the choir and that everyone was so absorbed in their own thing that they didn’t really pay attention to her in the brief time she was present with them. They know someone was there but couldn’t tell you anything about her, not even what she looked like. For example: do you know EVERY student you went to high school with? Nope. If yo found out someone you went to high school with for 4 years died, but couldn’t recall their name or face, how could you remember someone you probably just met that day?

After all if she WAS with them and didn't get her fortune read like everyone else it probably would have stuck out as weird to the others. At any rate I think it makes sence that at the very least she wasn’t with the group the entire time on that day

Maybe Jane/Penny FOLLOWED them because she WANTED TO BE PART OF THE CHOIR? They all passed by Karnak because he is a piece of the place, but Jane was on the corner just stalking them all being too shy to call them BECAUSE NO ONE KNOWS HER/SHE DOESN'T KNOW ANY OF THEM!! Maybe a new student!! And the fact that Karnak read all their furtonates (sorry if I didn't spell it right) was because they all were joking of telling random/deep things to him secretly So they all went to Cyclone, when Jane just squeezed herself into the stroller with the doll she had just won (OR EVEN RANDOMLY FOUND IT IN THE PARK), which, out of embarrassment, she placed in front of her face, not showing it for them When the accident happened they all fell imediatly, but Jane could hold herself somewhere for a few seconds before also falling, that's why Ricky heard she falling on Fall Fair Suit (Faaaaaaair, yk?) Karnak couldn't recognise her, so he just used the doll's head to replace her head! (Also, English is not my first language)

she seems just so innocent I love it, she deserves the biggest birthday party with so many presents and love and friends, her actress did an incredible job portraying her with her voice and body language omg :0

My sibling introduced me to this musical and Jane quickly became my fave character! I adore her and her story made me sad. :(

i feel like she has a faint memory of some things. like walking (she waddles so it seems like shes re-learning), birthdays, friends.

OOHHHHHH my god i just realized the lionness/lion catchphrase could be reflective of jane's actual family :(. my entire thoughts on this: -jane's parents were in a bad relationship/ loveless marriage and just had jane to have kids -after they had jane, her mother stopped sleeping with her father since she didn't love him -this made her (possibly abusive) father angry, and maybe he forced jane out of the house, so she joined the choir to have some people to be with -and then her parents never claimed her body bc they didnt care about her :( esp her father since it means her mother would be sleeping with him again. with no regard to his once living child. :(

I know she doesn't remember anything, but surely she isn't a blank slate. Not truly. She has very specific knowledge of animals, she makes references to Christianity, and she has an attachment to green eyes. It's not much, but it's something. Perhaps some details from her life may still linger.

Spoilers for both Ride the Cyclone and Legoland: Penny Lamb is both the name of the lead in the writer's previous play, Legoland, and Jane Doe's true name, hinting she may be the same person. Penny in Legoland's backstory is that she was raised in a hippie commune until it was shut down and her parents arrested by the police due to the planting, use, and selling of drugs. She's then forced to go to a Catholic school... like the one Jane Doe is in. My interpretation is that if it's the same character, then the catchphrase may reflect how Penny's parents may have cared more about the commune and their drugs than her.

I'm pretty sure the reason in the beginning that her arms are like that because she is realizing that she cannot feel air above her shoulders, and her trying to process her missing head before death.

I can't help but wonder if her appearance was inspired by the movie Whatever Happened to Baby Jane. In it, Bette Davis plays a deranged old woman who used to be a child stage performer in the 1910s. She's so obsessed with "the good old days" of her childhood stardom that she still dresses like she did back then when she was a little girl: frilly white dresses, excessive stage makeup, wearing her now white hair in old fashioned ringlets, etc. She even still has dolls of herself that were made when she was still a child star. Coincidentally, her character's name is Jane Hudson. However, Jane Doe acts nothing like Jane Hudson.

I can’t help but wonder if the Penny/ Jane has Autism head canon is true, that the reason she had her doll with her at the fair in the first place is because the doll is her comfort blanket (though in this case toy). I know not people who have Autism are the same but I have one who I bring with me if going somewhere and I’m nervous. So if she does have Autism and that is the case she probably brought her doll with her because this was probably the first time she went to the fair and maybe the first fair she’s ever gone to and needed something familiar to help her feel less scared. Just a thought.

said this under another comment, but my main guess is that if nobody properly identifies you after death in the rtc universe, you lose your identity in the afterlife. I mean, she can’t even remember who she is, so if she is part of the choir, the others probably just got their memory of her erased too. I don’t think she’s from the same school, because there’d definitely be records of her if she was. if she did join last minute, it must’ve been like, *really* last minute for there to be no legal papers verifying who she is.
