This is so interesting! I’m a musician, so I really appreciated how she only used Regency era instruments. Love that musical integrity within the creative freedom!

Thank you, very very interesting and inspiring Katie and Amanda ☕️ I'm going to read P&P as part of Jane Austen July and will be viewing Mr Darcy in quite a different way!

What a cool concept for a music album (and the interview for a Jane Austen July video)! I've saved the music on Spotify and YT to hear/watch later, but I'm so excited! Thank you both for an interesting chat and introducing us to awesome, new music and ways of enjoying Jane Austen! ❤

I feel like this discussion took place back in the 1800s. These young ladies are time travelers. They certainly know this topic very well. Great interview.

I only have one friend in real life who loves Jane Austen as much as I do. It's so lovely to see two ardent fans, who are creators themselves, having a conversation. I'm so glad you introduced us to Amanda's BEAUTIFUL and heartfelt music, Katie! Her Maria video was EXQUISITE! (like Georgiana's accomplishments at the piano forte!) 🙂

Katie, you never cease to surprise me with creative content! The interview was absolutely brilliant. Amanda is so well spoken and answered every question you posed elegantly. She obviously possesses a keen intellect and applies her amazing talent to produce unique and enjoyable entertainment. Her spin on reading that morphs to song writing might not be singular but I’ve never encountered it before. The comment she made about being faithful to the instruments of the period in her songs demonstrates her excellence! Thank you for sharing this interview and I hope you do more.

Thanks. Late in the interview Amanda mentions one of her opinions is kind of "unpopular." I understand that phrase has some currency at this point in time but it still confuses me. It seems like an opinion is an opinion and popularity has no bearing on it. I don't know.

I was wondering, Katie, why you had on this southern California girl with her open-mouth western American accent, and then I listened to her music. I get it. To my California ear it does NOT sound 1800's or at all English, but all the songs are honest to the material and all are beautiful. Anyone familiar with the novels quickly grasps that Amanda (like you) knows her Austen. I had no trouble guessing which novel inspired which song. I listened to the S&S knock off first and loved the melody but settled on the Northanger homage as the most lovely (and my favorite). My favorite book is P&P, although I consider Emma the more perfect work (go figure). Amanada's "Emma" contribution is light and simple, in keeping with the rosy place from which Jane composed the book. Persuasion is even more of a fairy tale than P&P. I fear in the REAL world the Captain would not have waited but would have married any suitable girl that would have said yes, but in Austen world, I'm glad Wentworth was constant. Well done, Amanda.

Yes, I love how her knowledge of and love of Austen comes through the songs.
