@@humanexister he landed it at a downward angle, you can easily knock someone out if you hit the right spot in the right way. The downward angle is more likely to throw the brain into the side of the skull.

Both title fights ended in second round with a left hook to the temple

Just before ko trainer said to Jan "Lewa, lewa" "Left, left" and Jan did it just like that ;)

When I saw Jan demolish Rockhold and then Corey Anderson I couldn't understand why everyone was sleeping on him going into this fight. Reyes is tough, but it seemed like all the hype was based on him losing to Jones "by not that much."

Audio Antiquity Reyes was a bit overhyped, Jan is emulating Jones method from stepping forward with pressure. He definitely reviewed footage and filled in the gaps(left leg kick and trades)Reyes has fought many tuna cans. Jan has been in the game and has experience and it shows here. Jones might have been lazy and squeezed by TbH.. that dude partys hard and has a iron chin!

It was understandable why people were sleeping on him. Rockhold would probably get KO'd by a decent lightweight/welterweight at this point and Anderson didn't beat anybody exept for an overhyped Walker. Jan's bad start in the UFC also had to be taken into consideration. Fighters rarely make drastic improvements at his age. All that makes for an even better story about the Polish Underdog

Shaka Brah I watched Jans other fights and he really likes that jab combo followed by the left kick.. it also says that in his UFC profile on the website. Jan definitely came prepared to take that belt and held a great defense pressure. He got clipped during the Santos fight for going overboard. He definitely improved! It’s great to see a 38 year old winner. Awesome

Yeah Costa played it safe, trying to conserve energy, when his only shot was to take Izzy's head off early. Not sure what he and his team thought he could do. Izzy is super annoying though, can't wait for him to lose eventually.

@Delph 017 yeah but it's not just about who got punched in the face more😂 You need to look at the Texas commission. This comes down to two things: Round 3 and Texas' combat sports commission. On the first one, Reyes won the first two and Jones the last two. That's what we know. That leaves the third. Yes, the striking numbers favor Reyes for that round, but at 23 to 19 it isn't exactly overwhelming. And even if it was, that's just one metric. For example, UFC stats revealed a major advantage for Jones in striking accuracy, with 62 percent for Jones to Reyes' 44 percent. If that's not "effective striking" (the first of the UFC criteria for scoring), then I don't know what is. Which illustrates why Jones won the third round. Reyes' low percentage speaks to Jones' ability to slip shots. Meanwhile, Jones blocked plenty of strikes as well, including a head kick in the third that caused far more drama than damage. But never forget UFC fights can never be a stats-only discussion. It's fairly easy to argue Jones held an edge in Octagon control in the third, applying constant pressure and consistently fighting from the center. But that in itself tells you how close it really was. You can't just hand the round to somebody. In order to be credible, you have to make a case, no matter what side you're on. That, ladies and gentlemen, is what is known as a close fight. In a close fight, there are no robberies. A robbery is Roy Jones and Park Si-Hun, not a fight that everyone agrees came down to one close round. That brings us to Texas. That commission needs some assistance. This is far from the first time something like this has happened. Thus, Texas gave cover to its own accusers, who are now free to charge gross incompetence or even malfeasance. The commission brought this on itself by removing its own ability to receive the benefit of the doubt. If it was a more reputable operation-one that hadn't already spit the bit once that night-then the outcry is at least a little quieter. So even conceding their incompetence, it doesn't mean the same thing as robbery or even a bad decision. That 49-46 score was bullshit, but luckily it proved irrelevant given the 48-47 from the other judges.
