I have the Jamo S808s in my office, pretty decent w “conservative calibrating” & DSP- for sum’n w only 50W, good enough as long as expectations r set.

I got for my TV home theater system used Rel Q50 and it has been great for my small apartment

watts on subwoofers is not what i expected, i thought more watts will be better in all cases. especially more expensive watts. this is just my experience on two amps driver same subwoofers. i diy two passive subwoofers, 10" driver in a 18 liter sealed cabinet. had a small cheap 2x100watt in 8ohm class d icepower and the NAD 298 purifi class d with is full size and 185 watt in 8 ohm. these both sounded about the same 200hz and below and could push my subwoofers to the max with ease. my point is that in the most difficult small cabinet and dsp applied 15hz was doable, i was told that to get low hz and small box volume you need dsp and lots of watts.

Some subwoofers from before the 2000s had "low wattages" like that. I had no problem getting them uncomfortably loud.

Got my new Speedwoofer MkII coming hopefully next week. Looked at this as a first sub, but ended up just waiting until the RSL's came back in stock. Hahaha! ME TOO! I ordered it (MkII) the moment we were allowed to at 9:00am in the morning! (I think it was March 9th if I recall?). WOW you must be my twin, cuz I was doing the EXACT SAME THING! Looking at this 12-inch Jamo sub first! I was almost about to pull the trigger on buying this C912, but then found out the RMS power was only listed as 75 watts!? Nah, i'll just wait for the Speedwoofer instead! (Which, like you said, SHOULD be arriving next week!) 😀😊🤔

@@antigravity19 Hehe! Yeah, luckily indeed! (I too was looking into Monoprice....oh wait, no, I think it was 'Monolith'...but their prices are in the SVS range). So yeah, Luckily RSL came to the rescue and solved our Sub woos! (although truth be told, I probably would've been more than happy if Jamo wouldn't have screwed up and just given the C912 an appropriate wattage number...like 150 RMS...a number most of us could no doubt live with). Oh well, I'm sure the $450 price tag will be more than worth it! 😁😊(Btw - This RSL '2nd sub' that I/we just ordered is meant to compliment my already existing SVS PB1000 that I purchased about 6 yrs ago...)

@@NemoPropaganda I Just placed an order for the speedwoofer as well. But Do you recommend for esthetics to get this one at $175 ? My whole system is the White C series Jamo speakers, and the only thing missing is the subwoofer :D Ill hide the speed and pretend the C912 is doing the job

SE12 is much better, built better, and extends lower, if you want one move fast because they're on clearance and not coming back. Hope that helps.

I just bought one from Amazon Renewed, rated as excellent condition for $169.00. 90 day return so I took a chance. I have the impression this is soon to be discontinued. There are no black cabinets left, only white.

If the cabinet is a good size, couldn't the port be enlarged or a second port added if the tuning frequency is too high? Got a Fenton SHFS12B sub on the way with 150W RMS and 400W peak. Got a single port on the back that appears to be a bit smaller than the Jamo, and similar sized box (maybe slightly larger)

a single larger port or adding a second port will raise the tuning frequency. This driver & plate amp are most likely not up to the task of producing anything below 30hz, the driver can't do it and the plate amp doesn't have the power to support it. This is a good cheap sub for $200 but it will have it's limits.

OK, what is better choise in the same budget? For example, reciver DENON X3800H has 4 output for subs + 1x SVS PB1000 + or 4x JAMO C912 ??? Around the same cost.

I do not see a case for buying more than 1 Jamo C912, if you have the budget for a pair or more you should buy a better subwoofer instead.

Thanks for the review Nemo. I own a JBL es150p, it's a 10 inch sub with a rated response from 27hz and a 300 watt RMS amp. Do you think this Jamo would be an upgrade?

Probably not. Your sub, although 10" ported, is 300W, with 500W peak. The amp alone is considerably more powerful, which won't just translate to higher SPL but usually better control and dynamics as well. There are more factors overall to consider, but stopping right there on the spec sheet you could likely make the assumption that you're not going to upgrade with the jamo, and more likely you'd be stepping down even though you'd 'gain' a larger driver. And likely that gain is only with the circumference of the cone. Your JBL probably has a larger motor section based on the wattage they are driving it with vs. the Jamo. You'd probably have to shop in the $500-$600 range to best your current sub with any considerable margin. There are some budget outliers and sales that may lower the cash outlay a bit, but that's my opinion on the performance aspects.

@@erics.4113 Thank you very much. Think I'll save for a SVS SB-2000 Pro instead. Where I live a KEF Kube 12b would also be a budget option. It's a 12 inch sealed design with a 300W RMS amplifier and a 22hz rated response, but, as with the Jamo, I can't find many reviews online.

personally I'm not a big fan of the ultra budget subwoofers, some of them like this one sound great but they all have very limited output and extension. If around $200 is the top of your budget I'd go for the Jamo C912 over just about anything else. The only other cheap sub I like the JBL 550p.

What did you set the gain and frequency on the sub? Did you go 120 LFE with -3?

Looking at this as a stop gap until plate amps come back in stock for my two Klipsch Reference 112sw (both blown). Would this do in a pinch or maybe even put the amp in one of the R112?

I'm curious how does this compare to the Airmotiv SE8?? I got this Jamo off of Erin's review but that was before I knew about the Airmotiv. I wonder if I screwed up and should have spent a little more for the Airmotiv.

They're both pretty good budget solutions. SE8 is a little cleaner and better for music while the Jamo has a larger sense of scale which is better for theater.

I need your advice: I have this sub paired with my little Jamo 803 5.0 budget system and have loved the whole package compared to our old janky Samsung soundbar (though it was a hard sell to my Chief Aesthetics Officer). But after hearing some praise about the RSL Speedwoofer 10S MKII, I’ve been strongly considering returning the C912 and going for the RSL instead. We watch a lot of genres of movie and TV show, and listen to basically every genre of music. How “much” better of an upgrade would the RSL S10 be compared to the C912? 20% better, 50% better? I need to be able to justify the cost, but the fact the RSL is smaller will be an upsell for my S.O.

Hey Square, so it might seem like I'm exaggerating but I'd say it's roughly a 250-300% improvement. The speedwoofer is on another level. It's like asking how a base model Honda Fit compares to a fully loaded Honda Accord. Those that have driven both cards will agree while the Honda Fit is fantastic for the money it doesn't hold a candle to the more refined Accord.

I think you misunderstood or misheard what I said but an upgrade from here would be the Emotiva SE8 and up from that would be the RSL Speedwoofer, and up from that would be the Rythmik L12.

Does anyone know if this unit is as good as Polk's PSW505 used for a 3 piece stereo system with a Denon AVR-X1400H reciver?

75 W RMS. If this were rated at 150 W RMS that would seem much more impressive. Isn’t the difference of double the power only 3 dB? Yes. It is. As you pointed out it is a very efficient design and tuned well and efficient designs can yield 3db and even 6db higher efficiency. Correct? 75 to 150 W equals 3 more dB. 150 W to 300 W equals another 3 dB. Wouldn’t an honest evaluation of any amplifier be better done by measuring the resulting sound output and clarity of a given amplifier/speaker system when combined? Personally, I would like to see amplifiers rated on a scale that represents total decibel range rather than electrical consumption. Thoughts?

You can do that but only with complete systems like powered speakers or powered subwoofers. CEA testing for example is what you are describing for subwoofers.

I don't know bro, Jamo marketing is all messed up, their website lists 200w, 300w, 400w, and 75w at different times and on the specsheet for the C912 it says 10" woofer so I have no idea anymore. The sub sounds great for the money and I have no idea what the watts are.

And today it's 154. I'm really torn as to the necessity but I'm so tempted by the price.

I just checked of course amazon will jack the price to 229 so you feel good then 3 wks from now it will fall to 115 . But hey. My brother was complaining about his 40 yr old harmon kardon. Probably needs caps and cleaning. If he wasn't my brother I'd sweettalk him out of it but being the nice guy I am. I just can't. Dang morals keep getting in the way. @@gopinaths5159 this is really just a guess but I think the Jamo has the most neutral port tuning frequency out of all the ultra cheap subs, the Klipsch is most likely tuned higher up and may have harder tone to its bass. The Klipsch does give you double the power but a smaller driver so I think output will be similar on both. I'd choose the Jamo for its more linear frequency response. Again this is all a guess.

Def no, i’d just go for the RSL Speedwoofer, it’s a superior option.

Can’t imagine having to walk around A12” sub. Episode 6, or 8, or Cambridge minx 6 or 8 are awesome high powered fast sealed subs. Fostex also does some decent options. Edit one more: doesn’t “literally” poop on anything. Just sayin’, but you can still keep the upthumb. :)

maybe some of us (or many) don't wanna run away because we simply aren't interested in "loud". "loud" is overrated in the reviewers's community, you don't need loud in your typical 12 x 14 living room, a 20 wpc amp and a 50 watts sub will do nicely with enough oomph.

I totally agree but then there are those who listen around 90-95dB, I have met these people and they really do exist. I was genuinely shocked that anyone could find that enjoyable.
