Shield Laboratory Developed Test (LDT) is intended for patients 45 and older who are at average risk for colorectal cancer (CRC) and remain unscreened. Shield is intended to be complementary to, and not a replacement for, current recommended CRC screening methods. Patients with an abnormal Shield result should be referred for colonoscopic evaluation. A normal Shield result does not rule out colorectal cancer and patients should continue participating in guideline-recommended screening programs. The Shield LDT test was developed, and its performance characteristics were determined by the Guardant Health Clinical Laboratory in Redwood City, CA USA, which is certified under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA) as qualified to perform high complexity clinical testing. This test may be used for clinical purposes and should not be regarded as investigational or for research only. This test is not cleared or approved by the FDA.
