I first heard this song whilst waiting for the 89 Batman film to start. In Parramatta NSW where the old Village Cinemas used to be. Everytime I heard this song it reminds me of the film. He even says "Pick up the Batphone and call my number" hehehhe.

Terrific! I haven't heard this song since 1989. The video's really nice too -- shows a wide variety of everyday people living the Aussie beach lifestyle, , not just the supermodel types. I agree it's hard to know what the song's actually about though :)

Have always loved this song ... even though I must confess I have no idea what it's about? .... Not that it matters ... a great song is a great song ... "One more River" ... Yet shot mainly on the Gold Coast? ... At first I thought it was about traveling north thru QLD to the top end ... hence one more river ... maybe it does mean that but the video crew got as far as getting on the piss on the Gold Coast and never got any further ... Perhaps he's singing about the metaphorical - or literal depending on your pov - river crossing to the 'promised land' ie its about his pathway to communion with God. When he points his finger skyward it seemed quite symbolic. Just my interpretation. Beautiful song regardless. Immense talent in James.

The slave of the Matrix, turning inwards, being urged to keep going by his ultimate defender. Again, just my interpretation... not ascribing any beliefs to James, it's just what resonates with me! 🙃

Terrific! I haven't heard this song since 1989. The video's really nice too -- shows a wide variety of everyday people living the Aussie beach lifestyle, , not just the supermodel types. I agree it's hard to know what the song's actually about though :)

Have always loved this song ... even though I must confess I have no idea what it's about? .... Not that it matters ... a great song is a great song ... "One more River" ... Yet shot mainly on the Gold Coast? ... At first I thought it was about traveling north thru QLD to the top end ... hence one more river ... maybe it does mean that but the video crew got as far as getting on the piss on the Gold Coast and never got any further ... Perhaps he's singing about the metaphorical - or literal depending on your pov - river crossing to the 'promised land' ie its about his pathway to communion with God. When he points his finger skyward it seemed quite symbolic. Just my interpretation. Beautiful song regardless. Immense talent in James.

@@jenineberenger4260 I interpret the song Slave in similar context. Imagine a different video to it... a communication with God in one's darkest hour. The slave of the Matrix, turning inwards, being urged to keep going by his ultimate defender. Again, just my interpretation... not ascribing any beliefs to James, it's just what resonates with me! 🙃
