James O'Brien's caller simply can't explain what the words he uses mean

If you thought that after Brexit, James O'Brien wouldn't get callers whose claims don't stand up for scrutiny, then you have no need to worry.
James was asking how Streatham attacker Sudesh Amman was allowed to be released from jail early, having been jailed for more than four years for terror offences.
Just out of jail, he stabbed two people in Streatham before being jailed by police.
That made James call in from Dagenham, insisting that it's all down to the legislation - and that legislation is made by leaders who are being influenced by a shady group.
After be bandied around phrases like neo-Marxism and cultural Marxism, James asked him simply what they actually mean.

James is ABSOLUTELY correct to ask this man to define the terms he’s using. There’s absolutely no point having a discussion with someone if they’re using words in a different way than you might understand them. Too many times I’ve seen Americans use the term “socialism” to describe things like “free healthcare”....

Well in a literal sense it is a social(ist) policy to provide ''free'' healthcare, to have a welfare system. Its just that the umbrella term ''socialism'' has a lot more implications than most people know. Welfare/healthcare being just one of the many points that are socialist ideals. You can have socialist policies without going full blown socialist, you can order some of the items on the menu without having to order everything else thats on offer.

Well, free healthcare is a socialist policy, because it's basically a socialized healthcare, same way almost all countries around the world have a socialized army, police, justice, infrastructure, etc.

He can be a bit annoying keep interrupting, but if you are going to start using terms like cultural Marxism, you need to show you understand what they mean. People think that they can just have any opinion they want and not have to justify it. If you want a debate you need to intellectually engage. If you can't be bothered to read books and learn don't get angry with those that make the effort to.

If you ask them what they mean, or what the terms mean, or what support they have for any of it, they look at you like you are crazy. This is called a "Gish Gallop", a bad-faith debating technique with a long history. Named after a man called Gish, it's about exploiting the fact that it's easier to lie than to debunk lies by "galloping" from one bad-faith argument to the next until your opponent simply has too many lies to address in the time allotted. It's a method of sneaking disinformation out to the audience unchallenged, and James is very correct to not allow it to happen on his show.

I agree, these types seem to lack anything much higher than (what we would call in the US) an eighth-grade level of literacy & language comprehension-- however, that doesn't rule out the possibility that they may have unconsciously adopted the practice of the "Gish Gallop" simply by repeatedly observing their favorite right-wing media figures use it time & again against liberal or more moderate figures in a debate setting. That said, it is both refreshing & inspiring to see JOB pounce on every attempt @ a Gish Gallop by demanding that the other person stop & clearly define the terms they R attempting to toss @ him -- which they seemingly always fail to do. Hmmm ... I detect a pattern, here.

This is a perfect example what's really wrong with the public trying to have an opinion on issues they don't really understand. People hear certain words and terminology from leaders they admire, and repeat what someone else is saying without actually understanding the meaning of these terms, purely for self gratification that they may look to have a slight bit of intelligence. If you want to express your opinion, or even get into a debate, you must back up your argument with an actual understanding of what you are trying to say.

People when will you realise that the words you use form the basis of your argument. If the words you use don’t make sense then neither will your broader point, and that’s assuming you even have a broader point. Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt and let’s say that he has a valid point. How would you know what it is if he is using the wrong language to express it? How would you know that you agree with him? You might assume you know what he means and that understanding might be totally different from what he actually means. If you actually knew what he meant you may not agree with him. And the only way to actually know what he means is to ask him to explain the words he uses. And if you find that a hindrance, you have two choices: a) Use different words or b)shut up and don’t say anything.

The term "Cultural Marxism", popularized by Jordan Peterson, is a rebranding of the term "Cultural Bolshevism" which was popularized by the Nazis. That's what makes these people so reluctant to define what they mean.

What does Marxism have to do with stop and frisk or political correctness (which is nothing but a term that bigots use against anyone wanting to hold them responsible for their bigotry).

This is what the News needs to do in America, is instead of letting a person ramble on, they need to stop them and ask them to explain the words they are using. Just like this guy, he's using the word, but doesn't even understand what it means, just like Americans who are against "Critical Race Theory"
