James O'Brien pushes caller to explain Netanyahu's words | LBC

'What does the phrase 'nothing will stop us' mean?'
James O'Brien attempts to get caller Graham to acknowledge the meaning behind Benjamin Netanyahu's words to Antony Blinken instead of fixating on what Hamas should be doing. This comes after an extended 7-day-ceasefire came to an end with Israel resuming their strikes on Gaza and Hamas responding.

@@saharyosef5879 I am going to write some text here please don't give me the 'I don't want to read your wall of text' excuse. If you have GCSE English equivalent then I am sure reading a few paragraphs won't hurt you. It's not even a wall of text to be honest. I'm off work today so I may as well try and change your mind. Do you really think the IDF is following proper counter terrorism doctrine? The IDF with the backing of the USA and UK is one of the most powerful militaries on earth! It is not following the rules of war that we in the West say that we uphold. Efficient counter terrorism is things like the elimination of individuals at the top tier leadership positions in an organization. Making use of accurate intel, utilizing assets, conducting clandestine operations with MINIMUM civilian deaths and collateral damage. Is Ismail Haniyeh in Gaza or the West Bank right now? What is going on in Gaza and the West Bank is textbook EC. There are palistinians who oppose settlement expansion and forced eviction, that is resonable don't you think? As far as I am aware Hamas does not even operate in the West Bank so even more evidence of EC. What about the Palestinian Christians in Bethlehem who oppose z10nism are they going to EC them also? Don't forget the Jews in Mea Shearim protesting also. So what is the end goal here anyway? Force mass displacement of an entire population into the Sanai Desert? What do you think is going to happen to people who lost their loved ones, fathers who lost their children, living in a refugee camp? Don't you think some of them will turn to extremism? Will they even be allowed back after their homes are destroyed? Is there a reconstruction plan? I wonder which companies get the lucrative reconstruction projects. I honestly don't even think that will happen because the leadership in Israel has it's mind set on EC or G. Our situation right now is that the arms industry and military industrial complex is extremely lucrative to certain individuals. These individuals through money, lobbies and power have the ability to dictate our foreign policy. Speaking from the UK we all know IDF F35 pilots train with us regularly. We are logistically linked. Our tax payers are contributing to the F35 components and munitions being tested on Gaza. If you actually love your country then you won't support the governments decision to give the IDF a blank check for doing EC. Do we want more immigrants, asylum seekers and refugees coming into our country? That war aid money could be put to much better use like affordable housing, health care and education. I suppose you are going to tell me to put my tin foil hat back on eh?

@@ricardosmythe2548No, by “everyone” I actually mean international law. I mean the Geneva Convention. I mean the UN Charter on Hunan Rights. I mean the UN General Assembly. I mean the ICJ. I mean Amnesty International. I mean The International Red Cross. I mean Human Rights Watch. I mean Israeli human rights group B’tselem. I am not trying to be dismissive of the point you’re making, that’s not my intention at all. I completely agree with your premise; that typically we tend to apply the label of “truth” and “facts” and what’s “obvious” or, in this case “everyone”, to our own bias, our take on a situation, and you’re right, that’s not helpful because by its very nature it limits, even prevents progressive discussion. But i am not applying that standard here when I say “everyone”. I am strictly applying the governance of international law and the Geneva Convention, which were established to prevent exactly this kind of atrocity. But because, in this case, the perpetrator is a USA backed state, “everyone” is left powerless to impose the rule of law, which in reality, is only ever imposed on the enemies of the West, such as Russia. And the Western media, which is really just a department of the US government, its “Ministry of Truth”, creates a cultural narrative that simply does not allow people to entertain thoughts that do not serve that narrative. Anything outside of the acceptable framework goes down the memory hole and people are left gabbling doublethink trying to balance what they instinctively feel with what they’re allowed to think and say, trying to defend today that which they will denounce tomorrow. “Everyone believes in the atrocities of the enemy and disbelieves in those of his own side, without ever bothering to examine the evidence” George Orwell

Unless a massive narcissist the genius will admit if he has to concede a point in the discussion. Genius and Narcissism go hand in hand. Geniuses will only accept hard evidence to prove they’re wrong, it’s even more pronounced in someone who self proclaims as a genius (when in reality they’re known to be average). Both sides of the political spectrum laud their confident speakers as geniuses, “yeah that’s what I want to hear” type thing. Genius does not preclude someone to have a better grasp on something on an emotional level than an averagely intelligent person would. The lesson: anyone who thinks and says they’re extremely clever as part of a debate is desperately looking for a way out. Graham held his own in this discussion despite what your leftie bias leads you to believe.

James, you are an amazing human being and a very lucky one, coz you have strong institutions that protect your democracy, giving you the right to freedom of speech. I am from a country that doesn’t give us these rights. You are able to do more through your words than I can even imagine. I am envious and grateful at the same time.

Graham like many others believe that there should be no limits, or laws that should stop Netanyahu & the IDF from achieving their goals if Hamas does not unconditionally surrender. That's pretty much it in a nutshell.

We all know what the words mean, but Graham doesn't want to admit that Netanyahu is prepared to flatten Gaza to reach his end goals and if that means killing a large contingent of civilians, well that's just collateral damage as far as he's concerned.

When it comes to Israel people look at it in a compartmentalised view. Some only view oct 7th. Some only look at the fact that Israel should be protected at all costs. Some look at it through a religious lens. What is being missed is the internal politics of Israel. The demise of centrists and the left either through falling birth rates or emigration. The rise of the right due to intentional high birth rates. The infiltration of the military by those who come from extremist parties. The attack on the judiciary and the fact that we are probably looking at continuous Israeli right wing governments who would make Netanyahu look like a moderate. A question has to be asked of non Israeli jews." How far will your support go to bolster governments that, if it was another country, you would despise " ?

Thank you for pointing all that out. Ive been saying this for years. Historically, its is possible for a people that were oppressed to become oppressors themselves.

My father in law was born in Tel Aviv, served in the IDF and left Israel. The writing was on the wall 40 years ago. The religious nutters are in charge now and care more about ideology than negotiating a long term peace agreement that would protect ordinary Israeli citizens. Yitzhak Rabin tried and was assassinated by a right wing religious extremist.

@@JarottM the "cycle of abuse"; well-enough documented phenomenon... for those with a functioning brain. The abuser is frequently an abuse victim, and in this case the US has the responsibility of breaking that cycle

There's a lot more Graham's in this country , after over 35 years in this country sometimes the language that comes out of certain people when it comes to immigration, boats and lately the one sided war in the middle east still amazes me...the horrifying truth is EDUCATION IS SUPPOSED to be free in this country.
