About the other 2 blokes: the only hobby I now they all share in common is sitting in the pub for a pint and arguing nonsense about something not important. Richard and May both like bikes but in different ways. I think that its good that they separate work from this video version of they being themselves. I see no point in mixing them in other context other than Top Gear / Grand Tour...

That truly was special. A LOT probably don't get it but guys inheriting a toy or ?? that their father owned and probably played with IS something truly special. My father had an old Lionel O scale (I think, whichever is the HUGE one) that I haven't been able to get my hands on because my mother won't let anything go. I haven't seen it for easily 55 years.

We will pretty much watch James doing anything he's interested in.

James is calm and relaxed. Watching James work on a model train was great. Talking and making sure the other dude knew what he was doing. It’s pure bliss.

I can now see why james gets the shits with jeremy and hammond when they dont do stuff properly. Hes such a perfectionist, i love it!

It's amazing that James May can take something that would normally bore anybody to sleep and keep me on the edge of my seat with it for 3 episodes.

James May is so funny. I can see how he would drive Clarkson crazy with his next level nerdyness.

I love the attention to detail and the in-depth breakdown of everything from James. Superb

Watching James reassemble something is never a waste of time.

I would find it cool if u were to visit old repair shops with James such as a shop for repairing old cameras or watches and then talk to the technicians about their tools and tricks etc.

In Estonia you will be lucky if you can find a proper watchmaker who can make parts for old watches, I have a Swiss Emperor watch that needs a new spring for the date change and no one can repair it, the day changes but not the date. It would be nice to have it working properly. I need the Repair Shop, as on BBC, but it's a long way to go.

James mays comments section full of only love and no hate, on youtube that is rare. It shows how much this man is loved. Literally.

Those model trains always have a very specific old electric model train toy smell. I love it

All these years I had never noticed the wheels on a steam locomotive were offset a quarter turn between sides. Learned something new.

Love the NSR! The Rothmans livery has to be one of the coolest liveries ever.

I'm not sure why, but there is a satisfaction in seeing all the care that Dr. May takes with all the fiddly bits and the eventual success.

Agreed! And with James May: Our man in Japan behind me he's just absolutely my favorite. The orangutan has his moments for sure, and the hamster has always been up there, but Captain Slow is for sure my top man in the trio now!

7:51 what I used to do is get a broken ballpen and roll it between the edges of the faces of the commutator in order to make them less sharp. This also greatly reduces the sparks created when running the motor.

Will Kinkade (or anyone else), what are all those bikes in the background? I think I spot a Honda Cub & NSR 250, A Donnington Norton, an FZR Yamaha (EXUP?), the Guzzi, some sort of 1960's Honda Dream & "various others". James definately needs to do a tour of his bikes.

Amazing sound clarity. You could hear James's digestive system groaning.

I'd love to have a learning experience like this from James may. Honestly learnt so much from this series. Fantastic work fellas.

I'm quite happy to watch any of these types of videos. It's therapeutic to watch James mend things and listen to him and Mike converse.

Great stuff JAMES May you really do have a level of patience way above the average guy. And you have made this restoration on an Hornsby 00 very interesting, thank you

Richard and Jeremy can shove it. Listening to James explain how things work is kinda relaxing. What a beautiful brain that man has.

Excellent restoration, the nice thing about stuff from this era is that it was made very simple without too many parts that can go wrong. Glad to see it run again

Noooooo the V11 is much more classy even though it is not a LeMan Rosso Corsa version. A vid on doing a big guzzi twin service is a must, and James can explain why Moto Guzzi thought it was a good idea to use a cartridge oil filter, but put within the sump!

There's something so unusual and special about an automotive television presenter being so interesting that we'll literally watch him and listen to him fix toy trains and Reassemble broken machines, doing NOTHING to do with cars, than watch the actual car show we know him from. May is like that expansively knowledgeable guru people make trips into a mountain cave to see.

Great job! That was a lot of work. Glad they got it working!

Definitely more especially trains and a layout.

I really enjoy these shows. It reminds me of watching my dad work on things. I can do this type of thing myself as well (since I used to watch my dad work on things), but there's something special about these videos.

I thought this was the new episode of James May: The Reassembler

I wish James May only did this. Like a kind of podcast, but instead he reassembles stuff. It is so calming and soothing. I have watched the reassembler once, but by now, I have listened to is 2 times during work, just because I like to listen to him. More reassembling please!

Loved the adventure of James trying to mend a piece of toy history! Have confidence James, there are others that love fiddling with trains, legos, air-fix etc. Thanks for the fun in the shop

Can we have a tour of all James’s bikes?

Airfix have announced an upcoming release of a ‘Cromwell’ Mk VI 1:35 model tank. They state the kit will be all new tooling...pretty big in the modelling world. So there’s a story to chase...get hold of Airfix and do an interview with them about it. 😘

Ctuchik ....There are a million and one people building model kits on KZread already. I was thinking that seeing the process of how model kits are designed and manufactured would be interesting. He could always build one in another episode.
